Arbok can have one of two abilities: [[Intimidate]], which lowers the opponent's Attack Statistic by one stage; or [[Shed Skin]], which gives this Pokémon a 1 in 3 chance of recovering from a status condition [Burn, Paralyze, Sleep, Freeze, or Poison, the last of which Arbok is immune to] each turn. Arbok's Hidden [[Ability]] is the [[Unnerve]] Ability. This Ability stops the opposing Pokémon from using their held Berry while the Pokémon with the Unnerve ability is in battle.

Arbok (アーボック) is the 24th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Poison Type, and is known as the Cobra Pokémon.

Arbok can have one of two Abilities: Intimidate, which lowers the opponent's Attack Statistic by one stage; or Shed Skin, which gives this Pokémon a 1 in 3 chance of recovering from a status condition each turn. Its Hidden Ability is Unnerve, which stops the opposing Pokémon from using their held Berry while it is in battle.

Ekans can evolve into Arbok at Level 22.

Arbok is in the Egg Groups Field and Dragon, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Arbok One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Contents

[edit] Biology

[edit] Physiology

Arbok takes the appearance of a large purple cobra. There is a pattern on its belly as well.

[edit] Gender Differences

Arbok doesn't have any visible characteristics to differentiate between male and female.

[edit] Game Information

[edit] Original Games

In the Generation I games, Arbok was only available at Route 23 and the Cerulean Cave in Red. Arbok would not be exclusive to any particular title in Generation II. Arbok can only be obtained by evolving an Ekans in Gold, at Routes 3, 4, 22 and 28 in Silver; and Routes 3, 4, 26, 27, 28, 42 and Mt. Silver in Crystal.

In Generation III, Arbok was only available in Fire Red at Route 23 and Victory Road. With a copy of FireRed Inserted into the second slot of your Nintendo DS in the Generation IV games Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, Arbok can be obtained at the Great Marsh. This will only work once the National Pokédex has been obtained.

Arbok is available in the Marshland section of the Safari Zone during the Morning and Day in both HeartGold and SoulSilver. In addition, Arbok can also be obtained at Routes 3, 4, 26 and 27 in SoulSilver.

In Pokémon X and Y, Arbok can be caught in the wild at Route 19 in a Horde battle.

[edit] Spin-off Games

Arbok is a Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness that can be Snagged from Cipher Peon Smarton at the Cipher Key Lair.

Arbok can be found at Secret Storage 18 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.

The only way to obtain an Arbok in the first set of Mystery Dungeon games is to evolve an Ekans. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky Arbok can be found at Shimmer Desert 1F-9F, which is known as Shimmering Desert in Explorers of Sky but the floors where Arbok appears are the same. Arbok is exclusive to Blazing Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing on the Path to Treasure Valley B12-B17 and Final Mountain 19F-22F.

Arbok can be found at the Cycla Mountain Range in Pokémon Ranger.

Arbok can be found at Desolated Ruins Cave 3-1 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

Arbok inhabits Viperia in Pokémon Conquest.

[edit] Trading Card Game

Arbok appears in multiple sets throughout the Trading Card Game. Janine's Arbok from the Vs set is the only Common card out of the 12 different Arbok cards. Arbok is listed as an Uncommon Card in the Fossil, EX Sandstorm, EX Team Rocket Returns, Great Encounters and XY sets; and as a Rare Card in the Team Rocket (foil and non-foil), Gym Challenge, Expedition (foil and non foil) and EX Dragon Frontiers (Delta Species Card) sets.

[edit] Anime/Manga Information

[edit] Anime

Jessie used an Arbok that had evolved from her Ekans from the episode Dig Those Diglett until it fled with James' Weezing and a group of Poison-Type Pokémon rescued from a poacher in the episode A Poached Ego. Arbok has since appeared with other trainers and in the wild.

[edit] Movies

Jessie's Arbok also appeared in the short Pikachu's Vacation and The Power of One. A Wild Arbok also appeared in The Power of One and Destiny Deoxys.

[edit] Manga

Koga appears with an Arbok in Chapter 14, which gets defeated by Blue's Charmeleon--it was cut in half but it was able to regenerate itself, making subsequent appearances in Chapters 71, 72, 77 and 85. Agatha uses her own Arbok in Chapters 71 and 72 as well.

Ariana, one of Team Rocket's Four Generals, uses her own Arbok in Chapters 445, 448-450, 454 & 455.

[edit] Pokémon Information

[edit] Competitive Battling

Arbok finds itself in the PU Tier of Competitive Battling. While none of its Statistics stand out, it does have access to Coil, which improves its Attack, Defense, and Accuracy by one stage each. This helps with moves that have less-than 100% Accuracy, including Gunk Shot, Aqua Tail and Glare.

Psychic-Types will have to be wary of Sucker Punch; if Arbok doesn't have this move they'll be able to prey on Arbok's Special Defense. Ghost-Type Pokémon with high Defenses will be able to survive a hit and use Will-O-Wisp to hinder Arbok's attack with a Burn. Ground-Type Pokémon that can outspeed Arbok will do well, but must be wary of both Aqua Tail and Seed Bomb.
