Luxray (レントラー) is the 19th Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex, It is an Electric-Type, and it is known as the Gleam Eyes Pokémon.

Luxray can use one of two Abilities: Rivalry, which increases both its Attack and Special Attack by 25% if it is going against an opponent of the same gender, but its Attack and Special Attack will fall by 25% if it faces an opponent of the opposite gender; or Intimidate, which reduces the Attack of its opponents by one stage whenever it enters battle. A third Ability is available to Luxray from the Dream World, the Guts Ability. This Ability increases its Attack by 50% when it gets afflicted with a Status Condition.

Shinx can evolve into Luxio at Level 15 and a second time into Luxray at Level 30.

Luxray is in the Field Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Luxray 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

It resembles the appearance of a fully grown Lion. It has 3 rings that run underneath the fur on it's front 3 legs, only revealed by a bare section to the back. Similar to it's pre-evolutionary stages, Luxio, who has 2 rings; and Shinx, who has one.

Gender Differences

The female has a shorter mane than the male counterpart.

Game Information

Spin-Off Games

Luxray appears at Sunny Seashore Factory 4-3 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

Luxray is listed in Pokémon Organized Play Series 8 as a Rare Card, and as a Rare Card in the Diamond and Pearl, Legends Awakened, Rising Rivals, Arceus and Next Destinies sets. A second Luxray is listed as an Ultra Rare Card in the Rising Rivals Set, and it's a Lv. X Card as well.

Anime/Manga Information=

Volkner would appear with his Luxray during the episodes The Fleeing Tower of Sunyshore! and The Eighth Wonder of the Sinnoh World!, the latter of which was Ash's Gym Battle against Volkner. Luxray would defeat Pikachu before getting defeated by Infernape.

Another trainer would use a Luxray during the film The Rise of Darkrai. Wild Luxray appear during the film Arceus and the Jewel of Life.

Pokémon Information

Competitive Battling

Luxray finds itself in the Never-Utilized and Rarely-Utilized Tiers of Competitive Battling. Unlike most Electric-Type Pokémon, Luxray has halfway decent defenses, and it has a high Attack, making physical attacks a better option. However, it isn't very fast, something that faster Pokémon can take advantage of.
