Aipom (エイパム) is the 123rd Pokémon in the Johto Pokédex. It is a Normal Type, and it is known as the Long Tail Pokémon.

Aipom can have one of two Abilities: Run Away, which allows it to run away from battle except for trainer battles or situations in which it is blocked from running, either by a move such as Mean Look or Ability such as Shadow Tag; or Pickup, which gives it a 10% Chance to find and hold an item after each battle, unless it is already holding an item, and starting in Generation V, Pickup can also pick up an item that was used during battle by an opposing or allied Pokémon. A third Ability is available to Aipom from the Dream World, the Skill Link Ability. This Ability allows for attacks that hit 2-5 times in succession to always hit five times.

Starting in Generation IV, an Aipom can gain the opportunity to evolve into an Ambipom if it Levels Up whilst knowing the move Double Hit.

Aipom is in the Field Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Aipom 800,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Wild Aipom would appear throughout Ash's journey in Johto, but it wouldn't be until the episode Slaking Kong in which a Wild Aipom would start to follow Ash. It would continue to follow Ash until he captured it in the episode Channeling the Battle Zone. It would remain with Ash until he traded it to Dawn for her Buizel in the episode Throwing A Track Switch, traded to Dawn because Aipom enjoyed Pokémon Contests more than battling.
