Azumarill can have one of two abilities: Thick Fat, an Ability that reduces the damage taken from Fire and Ice Type Attacks by 50%; or Huge Power, an Ability that doubles the power of all of its Attacks. However, the effect of Huge Power is reduced by half if the Ability gets changed by way of Skill Swap. Azumarill from the Dream World use the Sap Sipper Ability. This ability increases its Attack by one stage should it take a hit from a Grass-Type move, and it won't take any damage from that move either. Additionally, due to Azumarill being a Water Type, this Ability also nullifies its Grass Type weakness.
Azurill can evolve into a Marill when it has a high Happiness Value and Levels Up, but this only applies from Generation III onward. It can evolve into Azumarill once Marill reaches Level 18, or the first Level Up after evolving Marill should Azurill evolve at Level 18 or higher, where applicable.
Azumarill is in the Egg Groups Water 1 and Fairy, and its Egg takes approximately 2,560 Steps to hatch regardless if the Pokémon was bred to hatch a Marill or Azurill. It takes Azumarill 800,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.
Azumarill resembles a small blue rabbit with a small ball on its tail.
Azumarill doesn't have any differences to differentiate between male and female. It is worth noting that its pre-evolved form Azurill is a rare case of a pre-evolved Pokémon having a different Gender Ratio than its evolved forms; Azurill's Gender Ratio is Male 25%-Female 75% whereas both of its evolved forms are 50-50.
Azumarill can be found in the wild at Victory Road in Platinum. In Black 2 and White 2, Azumarill appears at Routes 6, 11, 20, 22, Abundant Shrine, Floccesy Ranch, Pinwheel Forest, Relic Passage, Victory Road and Village Bridge.
Azumarill makes appearances at Secret Storage 12 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
Azumarill can only be obtained by evolving Marill in the first Mystery Dungeon game. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Azumarill appears on the first 20 floors of Blizzard Island, Crevice Cave B1-B10 & DP B1-B4, and Mt. Avalanche B1-B19. Azumarill is exclusive to Stormy Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at Storm Island 18F-25F.
Azumarill appears in Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, its lone appearance in the Pokémon Ranger series. It appears at Silver Falls on Sophian Island in the Present; and in the Ice Temple Missions Time! Time! Time by completing the mission with an S Rank, and Round and Round! Find the Floor! by defeating it and obtaining its Slate, but you must defeat the Boss of this stage within the time limit in order to retain this Slate.
Azumarill appears at Sun-Dappled Bank Lake 2-1 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Trading Card Game
Azumarill appears in 11 different sets. Azumarill has only one listing as a Common Card, which is in the Boundaries Crossed set. It is listed as an Uncommon Card in the EX Sandstorm Set. Azumarill is listed as a Rare Card in the Neo Genesis, Neo Destiny (Light), Aquapolis, EX Team Rocket Returns, EX Delta Species (2; 1 Delta Species Card), Diamond and Pearl, & Heart Gold and Soul Silver sets.
Prior to this, a trainer named Jackson used an Azumarill in a match against Ash in the Silver Conference; the episode titled Tie One On!. Pikachu defeated Azumarill in this battle, one that would end in a draw.
Another trainer's Azumarill appears in the film The Rise of Darkrai, which also featured Wild Azumarill. Wild Azumarill also appear in the films Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea, Giratina and the Sky Warrior, and Zoroark: Master of Illusions, along with the Pikachu Short Pikachu's Summer Festival.
Azumarill's Manga info is unknown at this time.
In the Sixth Generation, Azumarill finds itself in the Overused (OU) tier as one of the tier's most standout Pokemon. Azumarill's amazing Water/Fairy typing gives it many useful resistances to check huge metagame threats such as Keldeo and Mega Charizard X. Azumarill has considerable power thanks to Huge Power which grants it the base equivalent of 150 Attack to go along with great STAB options in Waterfall, Aqua Jet, and Play Rough. It also has decent 100/80/80 bulk that allows for it to sponge hits and dish out major damage in return. Azumarill can function as a Choice Band attacker, a Belly Drum sweeper, or an Assault Vest set that gives it more special bulk. One notable flaw with Azumarill is its low base 50 Speed that will mean that it will be outsped by the majority of the metagame and be forced to take a hit more often than not.
