Bug Catching Competition

The Bug Catching Competition is a contest in which the player attempts to catch the most powerful bug Pokémon. The contest is located in the National Park, on the player's way to Ecruteak City from Goldenrod City. The competition takes place every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Prior to obtaining the National Dex, the player may only catch Pokémon found within the Johto Pokédex. After the player receives the extension to his or her Pokedex, the player may catch various Sinnoh and Hoenn Pokemon on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The rewards from the contest consist of evolutionary stones for first place, an Everstone for second place, Sitrus Berry for third place, and a Shed Shell if the player does not place in the top three.
