Carrracosta (アバゴーラ) is the 71st Pokémon in the Unova Pokédex. It is a Water/Rock Type, and it is known as Prototurtle Pokémon.

Carracosta's Ability Sturdy prevents OHKO moves and prevents it from being KO'd while its HP is at maximum, while its other Ability Solid Rock reduces damage from Super Effective moves by 25%. Its Hidden Ability is Swift Swim, which doubles its Speed when it is raining. This does not take effect on the same turn in which is starts to rain, however.

Tirtouga can evolve into Carracosta at level 37.

Carracosta is in the Water 1 and Water 3 Egg Groups, and it will take approximately 7,680 Steps for its Egg to hatch. It takes Carracosta One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Pokémon Information

Competitive Battling

Carracosta is in the Borderline 4 (BL4) tier of competitive battling, which means that it is banned from the PU tier but not used enough to be a part of the Neverused (NU) tier. With an excellent Defense stat and a decent typing, Carracosta can check numerous threats in the NU tier, such as Archeops, Tauros, Scyther, Pyroar, and other various physical attackers. This allows for it to be a solid Stealth Rock setter, and with Solid Rock, super effective hits do less than they normally would. Carracosta can also run a Shell Smash set, and with the best boosting move in the game and solid mixed attacking stats, Carracosta can blast through certain Pokémon with boosted special or physical attacks like Hydro Pump or Stone Edge. However, Carracosta has a very low Speed stat, even at +2, so it is outsped by a decent chunk of Pokémon and can be revenge killed. It also has a low Special Defense stat and some glaring weaknesses to Grass, Electric, and Fighting. It faces competition from Barbaracle as a Shell Smash user, which has a much better Speed stat and Tough Claws to boost its physical attacks.
