Charmander, (ヒトカゲ Hitokage) is the first Fire Pokemon in the series and is one of the starters available in Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow/FireRed/LeafGreen along side Bulbasaur and Squirtle. Charmander evolves into Charmeleon at level 16 and then to Charizard at level 36.

Charmander has the ability Blaze which when it has less than a third HP all of it's Fire attacks are 50% stronger.

Charmander is in the Egg Group Monster and Dragon, and will hatch in 5,120 steps. There is a Gender ratio of 12.5% ♀ / 87.5% ♂. To get to level 100 Charmander will have to gain a total of 1,059,860 experience. Its PokeDex color is Red.

Anime Appearances

Charmander was found by Ash, Misty, and Brock one day. The Charmander was sitting on a log and looked like it was waiting for someone. When the group heads to the Pokemon Center they overhear a trainer named Dario saying he abandoned a Charmander. Ash then argues with Dario about how to treat Pokemon. Brock then broke up the fight. So the group heads out to find Charmander but it is raining. Brock says that if Charmander's flame goes out on its tail that it will die. So they head even faster and find Charmander but its flame is slowly diminishing. After sprinitng very fast the group gets charmander to the Pokemon Center just in time. The next day Ash wakes up and finds out that Charmander left the Pokemon Center. Trying to find it, Team Rocket captures the gang and Pikachu. Charmander then comes out of nowhere and saves Pikachu. Ash then asks Charmander to join his team.
