Chimecho (チリーン) is the 151st Pokémon in the Hoenn Pokédex. It is a Psychic type, and is known as the Wind Chime Pokémon.

Chimecho uses the Levitate Ability. This Ability gives it an immunity to Ground-Type attacks, the entry hazard Spikes and cannot be trapped by the Ability Arena Trap.

When it was introduced in Generation III Chimecho couldn't evolve and didn't have a pre-evolved form. Its pre-evolved form was introduced in Generation IV, called Chingling, which could evolve into Chimecho by way of Friendship Evolution at Night.

Chimecho is in the Amorphous Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 6,400 Steps to hatch. The egg can also hatch a Chingling if Chimecho breeds while holding a Pure Incense, an Egg that takes the same number of steps to hatch. It takes Chimecho 800,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Movies

James would also used his Chimecho in the film Lucario and the Mystery of Mew; another trainer used a Chimecho in the film The Rise of Darkrai.

Manga

An Old Couple that lives on Mt. Pyre own a pair of Chimecho that make their debut in Chapter 229. These Pokémon can utilize their psychic powers to detect the goings-on in the world from a great distance.

Pokémon Information

Competitive Battling

Chimecho finds itself in the Never-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling. While Chimecho finds itself outclassed by other Psychic-Type Pokémon in the Tier, it has one niche that it can take advantage of: the combination of the moves Recover and Heal Bell plus the Levitate Ability. It is capable of holding Fighting-types such as Sawk in check, but Dark-Type and Bulky Psychic-Type Pokémon will be able to slow it down and win, especially if it gets hit with Taunt.
