Cloyster (Japanese: パルシェン Parushen) is a Water/Ice-type introduced in the Red and Blue versions. Cloyster's largely considered as an inferior Forretress as both Pokemon do very similar roles. Both make good Spikers and Spinners, whilst also serving as decent Physical walls. Cloyster's one saving grace is its much larger Def, however this is negated with a lower HP and much worse typing defensively. One positive is that Cloyster makes for a decent switch into Garchomp, being able to survive any attack (be it Swords Danced or not) and threaten a KO with Ice Beam or Blizzard (provided Garchomp doesn't have a Yache Berry).
