Combusken has the ability Blaze. With this ability, the power of Combusken's Fire-Type attacks increases by 50% once its HP falls below one-third of its maximum. Combusken's Hidden Ability is called Speed Boost. Every turn that this Pokémon is in play its Speed stat increases by one stage, but this does not take effect on the turn that this Pokémon is switched into the battle, or at the start of a battle.
Torchic can evolve into Combusken starting at Level 16, and a second time into Blaziken starting at Level 36. During a battle, a Blaziken that is holding a Blazikenite can Mega Evolve into Mega Blaziken.
Combusken is in the Field Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Combusken 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.
Combusken takes on the shape of a human-shaped chicken. It has a lot of strength in its legs.
A Male Combusken whill have slightly longer head feathers than the female.
Combusken can only be obtained by evolving Torchic or by trading for one. This is consistent across all Generations that a Combusken can be obtained in.
Combusken appears at Endless Levels 7 & 18, Forever Level 56 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.

After evolving from Torchic in the episode A Shroomish Skirmish, May would continue to utilize Combusken and learn to control its power and skills in contests. It would evolve into a Blaziken in the episode Once More With Reeling.
A Nurse Joy would use a Combusken for security at a Pokémon Center at the end of the episode Having a Wailord of a Time!. A Wild Combusken appeared in the special episode Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs Part Two.
May's Combusken appears in the films Destiny Deoxys and Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, along with the Pikachu Shorts Pikachu's Summer Festival (unaired outside of Japan) and Pikachu's Island Adventure.
Sapphire's Torchic would evolve into a Combusken in Chapter 195. Nicknamed "Chaka" by her Trainer, she would evolve into a Blaziken in Chapter 226. Between these two events, this Combusken would also appear in Chapters 197-199, 203, 205, 212, 215 & 216.
Team Galactic Grunts would use a group of Combusken to attack Buck and Looker at Start Mountain in Chapter 425, first appearing in a flashback in the prior chapter.
Combusken finds itself in the Neverused (NU) tier of competitive battling. With an amazing ability in Speed Boost, Combusken can become a highly threatening force to go up against and can act as a mid to late-game cleaner. With high powered STAB attacks that provide solid STAB coverage and the ability to go either special or physical, Combusken is a threat that can be quite difficult for offensive and balanced teams to switch into. Its typing lends itself well to handling threats like Abomasnow, Shiftry, and Liepard. Combusken's best set is a Life Orb special attacking set that can be ruthless with its power thanks to high powered STABs in Fire Blast and Focus Blast while being able to pass speed boosts to another Pokémon through Baton Pass. It can also run a Swords Dance Eviolite set that allows for it to threaten a large number of Pokémon in the tier and can be difficult to deal with as it has two great STAB options in Flare Blitz and Low Kick. Combusken's flaws are that it lacks good bulk without an Eviolite which makes it easy to take out and that its initial Speed stat is quite lacking. Even after a +1 boost, Combusken cannot outspeed the likes of Tauros, Archeops, and Floatzel. Combusken's offensive stats are not outstanding by any means, so it struggles against much bulkier Pokémon like Musharna and Mega Audino as a result.
