Crobat (クロバット) is the 169th Pokémon in the Pokédex, and the 39th Pokémon in the Johto Pokédex. It is a Poison/Flying type, and it is known as the Bat Pokémon.

Crobat uses the Inner Focus Ability. This Ability protects it from flinching, even if it was hit by Fake Out. Its Hidden Ability is Infiltrator, which nullifies the opponents' defensive screens, such as Reflect, Light Screen, Substitute or Safeguard.

Zubat can evolve into Golbat starting at Level 22. Golbat can evolve into Crobat once it becomes loyal to its trainer and levels up. This is known as a Friendship Evolution.

Crobat is in the Flying Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 3,840 Steps to hatch. It takes a Crobat One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Biology

Physiology

Crobat takes the appearance of a purple bat. Its legs have a smaller pair of wings that the previous forms of its evolutionary line do not have.

Gender Differences

Crobat doesn't have any visible differences to differentiate between male and female.

Game Information

Original Games

In most of its game appearances, the only way to obtain Crobat is by evolving a Golbat.

However, Crobat can be found at Route 13 and Giant Chasm in shaking spots in Black and White. In Black 2 and White 2, Crobat can be found at the Dreamyard in shaking spots.

In Pokémon Sun and Moon, Crobat can be caught in the wild at Resolution Cave when called on by a Golbat through an S.O.S. Battle.

Spin-off Games

Golbat appears at Secret Storage 4 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.

The only way to obtain a Crobat is to evolve Golbat in the first round of Mystery Dungeon games. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Crobat appears in Aegis Cave at DP B1-B5.

Crobat appears in all three versions of Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing in the areas Fire Mountains, Storm Island and Light Summit 21F-29F in each specific game, along with each game's respective Legendary and Final areas.

Crobat appears at Panulla Cave in Pokémon Ranger, but the Field Assist Burn x3 is required to reach it. Crobat appears inside the Altru Building in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Crobat appears as a Boss within the Oblivia Region's Sky Fortress. This Present-era boss battle takes place in the Observation Room on the right. Crobat can be obtained within the Fire Temple Missions "Which Switch is for Mime Jr.?" and "Graveler's Terrible Rocks," along with the Dark Temple Missions "Ground-Shaking Dragon Pokémon" and "Glowing Roads in the Darkness." In all four missions, you have to defeat it or another form in Crobat's Evolution Line and obtaining its Slate, along with defeating the boss within the time limit.

Crobat can be found at Everspring Valley Cave 4-2 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

The only way to obtain a Crobat in Pokémon Conquest is to evolve a Golbat.

Trading Card Game

Crobat is listed in a total of 14 sets and the 5th Movie Halfdeck. Crobat is listed as a Common Card in the VS set (2; 1 Koga, 1 Janine). It's lone listing as an Uncommon Card is in the Platinum (Team Galactic Card) set. Crobat is listed as a Rare Card in the Neo Revelation, Neo Destiny (Dark), Skyridge (2; 1 Hidden Rare), EX Hidden Legends, EX Team Rocket Returns (Dark), EX Deoxys (EX Card), EX Delta Species (Delta Species Card), Mysterious Treasures and Unleashed sets.

A second Crobat is also in the Unleashed set, but this Crobat is a Super Rare Pokémon Prime Card. Super Rare Cards are of a greater rarity than the Rare Cards.

Anime/Manga Information

Anime

Brock would get a Crobat after his Golbat evolved in the episode Control Freak. After returning home from the Johto region, Crobat was one of three Pokémon that Brock gives to his brother Forrest before leaving for the Hoenn region with his Forretress.

Movies

Brock's Crobat appears in the films Celebi: Voice of the Forest and Heroes: Latios and Latias. Another trainer's Crobat appears in the film The Rise of Darkrai.

Manga

Janine would use a Crobat at Goldenrod City to battle the legendary Suicune in Chapter 136, only to be defeated.

Giovanni uses a Crobat for aerial travel in Chapters 282, 286 & 287.

Palace Maven Spenser uses a Crobat to take on Battle Palace challengers. This Crobat makes appearances in Chapters 304, 305, 312-315, 317, 318, 323-326 & 329.

Pokémon Information

Competitive Battling

Crobat is in the Underused (UU) tier of competitive battling. With decent overall stats including a high 130 base Speed and a unique typing, Crobat makes for a great check to many specific threats in the tier, such as Heracross, Shaymin, and Roserade. Its bulk holds up well against many threats in the tier, and its movepool consists of great support options like Defog, Taunt, U-turn, and Roost. Therefore, it can act as a great team supporter that can stay relatively healthy throughout the game thanks to reliable recovery. Due to its high Speed and decent Attack stats to go along with a strong STAB in Brave Bird, Crobat can go a more offensive route with a Choice Band route that can deal heavy damage to offensive teams. However, Crobat's bulk can only take it so far especially considering its weakness to Stealth Rock. Its Choice Band set cannot muscle through some of the more defensive Pokémon in the tier due to having only base 90 Attack.
