Empoleon (エンペルト) is the ninth Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. It is a Water/Steel Type, and it is known as the Emperor Pokémon.

Empoleon's Torrent Ability increases the power of its Water type attacks when its HP falls below one-third of its maximum, while its Dream World Ability Defiant increases its Attack Statistic by two stages whenever one of its stats are lowered by an opponent's attack, but not as a result of stat deductions that are self-inflicted or caused by an allied Pokémon's attack.

Piplup evolves into Prinplup starting at level 16, and evolves a second time into Empoleon starting at level 36.

Empoleon is in the Egg Groups Water 1 and Field, and its egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Empoleon 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

[edit] Pokémon Information

[edit] Competitive Battling

Empoleon was listed in the OU, or Over-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling in Generation IV. In Generation V, Empoleon can remain a viable competitor in the Over-Utilized Tier, but primarily appears in the Under-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling. It remains a viable option on offense and defense, and it has access to great support moves including Stealth Rock and Toxic. Special Walls and Physical Attackers provide problems for Empoleon, sponging attacks and taking advantage of Empoleon's lack of recovery respectively.
