Exploud (バクオング) is the 47th Pokémon in the Hoenn Pokédex. It is a Normal Type, and it is known as the Loud Noise Pokémon.

Exploud has the Soundproof Ability. This Ability gives it an immunity to sound-based attacks such as Screech, Uproar, and Perish Song, just to name a few examples. However, should this Pokémon switch out with Baton Pass, the Pokémon that comes in to replace it will still be affected by Perish Song. A second Ability is available to Exploud from the Dream World, the Scrappy Ability. This ability allows it to strike a Ghost Type opponent with a Normal Type or Fighting Type attack without having to rely on the use of Foresight or Odor Sleuth to remove a Ghost Type's immunity to these two types of attacks.

Whismur can evolve into Loudred starting at Level 20, and can evolve a second time into Exploud starting at Level 40.

Exploud is in the Egg Groups Monster and Field, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Exploud 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Exploud can only be obtained by evolving a Loudred in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, and Pokémon White.

Exploud makes appearances at Endless Level 54, Forever Level 4 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.

Exploud can only be obtained by evolving a Loudred in the first Mystery Dungeon game. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Exploud appears at Concealed Ruins B16-B29. Exploud is exclusive to Stormy Adventure Squad Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing on the first twelve floors of Weird Rockland.

Exploud appears at Panulla Cave in Pokémon Ranger. This is its only appearance in the Pokémon Ranger series to date, as Exploud does not appear in either of the two sequels.

Exploud can be found at Desolated Ruins Cave 3-1 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

In the episode Exploud and Clear!, Ash was battling another trainer's Loudred when it evolved into an Exploud; at the same time Ash's Treecko evolved into a Grovyle. Other trainers have also used Exploud in the episodes Pinch Healing! and Team Shocker!, the latter of which revolved around the Solaceon Pokémon Contest.

[edit] Competitive Battling

Exploud finds itself in the Never-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling. The one thing unique about Exploud in this Tier is that it is one of the few Normal-Type Pokémon with a usable Special Attack, which can break through physical walls. It can also run a Mixed Sweeper set because its Attack and Special Attack are even.

What hurts Exploud the most is low defenses, which offset a good HP Statistic, and its low Speed doesn't do it any favors without Trick Room support. Faster Pokémon with Fighting-Type moves won't have much trouble with Exploud. Ghost-Types will do well against Exploud provided that it isn't using the Scrappy Ability.

III Ruby Exploud triggers earthquakes with the tremors it creates by bellowing. If this Pokémon violently inhales from the ports on its body, it's a sign that it is preparing to let loose a huge bellow.
Sapphire Exploud communicates its feeling sto the others by emitting whistle-like sounds from the tubes on its body. This Pokémon only raises its voice when it is in battle.
Emerald It has sound-generating organs all over its body. It communicates with others by adjusting the tone and volume of the cries it emits.
FireRed It emits a variety of sounds from the holes all over its body. Its loud cries can be heard from over six miles away.
