Exploud has the Soundproof Ability. This Ability gives it an immunity to sound-based attacks such as Screech, Uproar, and Perish Song, just to name a few examples. However, should this Pokémon switch out with Baton Pass, the Pokémon that comes in to replace it will still be affected by Perish Song. A second Ability is available to Exploud from the Dream World, the Scrappy Ability. This ability allows it to strike a Ghost Type opponent with a Normal Type or Fighting Type attack without having to rely on the use of Foresight or Odor Sleuth to remove a Ghost Type's immunity to these two types of attacks.
Exploud takes on the appearance of a large, bipedal monster with a gapingly huge jaw and multiple sound ports on its body.
Exploud doesn't have any distinguishable characteristics to differentiate between male and female.
Exploud makes appearances at Endless Level 54, Forever Level 4 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
Exploud can only be obtained by evolving a Loudred in the first Mystery Dungeon game. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Exploud appears at Concealed Ruins B16-B29. Exploud is exclusive to Stormy Adventure Squad Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing on the first twelve floors of Weird Rockland.
Exploud appears at Panulla Cave in Pokémon Ranger. This is its only appearance in the Pokémon Ranger series to date, as Exploud does not appear in either of the two sequels.
Exploud can be found at Desolated Ruins Cave 3-1 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Trading Card Game
Exploud appears in five different sets. It is listed as a Rare Card in the EX Hidden Legends, EX Emerald, EX Crystal Guardians (EX Card), Great Encounters and Supreme Victors sets.
In the episode Exploud and Clear!, Ash was battling another trainer's Loudred when it evolved into an Exploud; at the same time Ash's Treecko evolved into a Grovyle. Other trainers have also used Exploud in the episodes Pinch Healing! and Team Shocker!, the latter of which revolved around the Solaceon Pokémon Contest.
Wild Exploud have appeared in the Pikachu Short Pikachu's Island Adventure and the feature film Arceus and the Jewel of Life.
Exploud's Manga info is unknown at this time.
Exploud is a part of the Rarelyused (RU) tier of competitive battling. With an amazing STAB attack in Boomburst, Scrappy to hit Ghost-types with its powerful STAB, and great coverage attacks in Fire Blast, Focus Blast, and Surf, Exploud is among the most difficult Pokémon to switch into in the RU tier. A Choice Specs set gives Exploud maximum power to work with, and it excels especially against slower defensive teams. Even bulky resists like Rhyperior do not enjoy stomaching a Boomburst and are hit hard by Exploud's coverage moves. It helps immensely in helping out faster threats due to its ability to wallbreak through common balanced and stall cores. However, Exploud's lack of resists, average defenses, and vulnerability to status conditions limit its switch in opportunities and restrict it from being too overpowering. It is also far too slow for it to be able to sweep through opposing teams, and that low Speed also leaves it vulnerable to being revenge killed.
