 Pokémon Information
 Competitive Battling
Floatzel finds itself in the PU tier of competitive battling, where it stands out as one of the tier's best Pokémon. With good offensive stats, a high Speed stat, and excellent overall coverage combined with unpredictability, Floatzel is a tremendously good offensive threat in the tier. It can fit on balanced and offense teams alike and functions as both a wallbreaker and cleaner. It has some neat moves at its disposal, such as Switcheroo to cripple bulkier Pokémon like Clefairy and Baton Pass to gain momentum for a team. Floatzel's best set is a special attacker set with Life Orb or Choice Specs that can hit hard with STAB Hydro Pump and can act as a very nice cleaner and revenge killer. It can also run a Choice Band set that puts Floatzel's higher Attack stat to good use and has a nice priority attack in Aqua Jet. Floatzel's only flaws are that it can be a bit underwhelming in power when using its coverage options and that it is outsped by a common Pokémon in Zebstrika.
Floatzel is also viable in the Neverused (NU) tier of competitive battling. With an excellent Speed tier that allows for it to outspeed the entire unboosted tier except for Swellow, Floatzel is a very potent attacker that can maul offensive threats in Tauros, Archeops, and Pyroar. It has a solid enough movepool to hit a large portion of the tier hard, and it can pivot out with Baton Pass, nabbing momentum in the process. Floatzel's best set is a special attacker Life Orb set that has a strong STAB in Hydro Pump and good coverage through Ice Beam and Focus Blast. Floatzel's flaws lie in its poor bulk, which leaves it vulnerable to being picked off by priority, and its only decent Special Attack stat which leads to it struggling against certain Pokémon like Lanturn. It faces competition from Samurott and Ludicolo as an offensive Water-type, as both have better bulk and movepools, but Floatzel's higher initial Speed is a major advantage over the two and allows for it to be a very good offensive threat.
