Forrestress is the 205th Pokemon in the National Pokédex. Known as the Bagworm Pokemon, it has a Steel/Bug Dual typing.

Forretress has two abilities, Sturdy and the Dream World ability Overcoat. The first ability, Sturdy, prevents One-Hit KO moves from effecting Forretress, and if Forretress is at full health and takes a hit that would normally KO it, it will survive with 1 HP. The second ability, Overcoat, prevents Hail and Sandstorm from effecting Forretress (However, Forretress is already immune to Sandstorm under normal conditions thanks to its Steel typing).

Pineco may evolve into Forretress beginning at level 31.

Forretress is in the Bug Egg Group, and its eggs take 5120 steps to hatch. Forretress needs 1,000,000 Experience Points to reach level 100.

[edit] Competitive Battling

In Generation VI, Forretress is a part of the Underused (UU) tier of competitive battling. Thanks to a high 140 base Defense and good defensive typing, Forretress acts as a good defensive sponge against a good number of offensive threats. Access to many highly sought after moves like Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Rapid Spin makes Forretress a good overall utility Pokémon. Its two abilities, Sturdy and Overcoat, have their uses in terms of situation, with Sturdy allowing Forretress to take any single hit from full health and Overcoat keeping Forretress from being affected by powder moves and hail. Volt Switch allows for Forretress to act as a slow defensive pivot, while its low Speed works in its favor when considering Gyro Ball, which can do decent damage against frailer offensive threats. Another approach to Forretress is a more suicidal route with a Custap Berry and minimal defensive investment so that Forretress can set up hazards and use Explosion when taken down to 1 HP to prevent Defog and Rapid Spin users from from getting rid of the hazards. Forretress's biggest flaws are its subpar 60 Special Defense and its overall lackluster offensive prowess that can make it set-up bait.
