Gabite (ガバイト) is the 110th Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. It is a Dragon/Ground-Type, and is known as the Cave Pokémon.

Gabite's Ability, Sand Veil, gives it a 20% Evasion boost while Sandstorm is in effect. In addition to this effect, the chance of Wild Pokémon battles is halved if Gabite is in the lead spot during a sandstorm. It's Dream World ability is Rough Skin, which damages the opponent by 1/16th their max HP if they use an attack that makes contact with Gabite (ex: Body Slam, Bullet Punch, Flare Blitz, etc).

Gible can evolve into Gabite at level 24, and Gabite can evolve into the more powerful Garchomp starting at level 48.

Gabite is in the Egg Group Monster and Dragon, and its Egg will take approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Gabite 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

[edit] Game Information

[edit] Original Games

The only game in which Gabite appears in the Wild is Pokémon Platinum, as it can be found throughout Victory Road. In the other Generation IV and Generation V main games, the only other way to obtain a Gabite is to evolve a Gible or to trade for one.

[edit] Spin-Off Games

Gabite appears at Dusk Forest 1F-8F, Sky Stairway 1F-49F and Maze Cave on B10 in Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky. Gabite is exclusive to Blazing Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing on the Path to Treasure Valley B7-B13 and Final Mountain 23F-25F.

Gabite can be found inside the Hippowdon Temple and Altru Building in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Gabite appears on the Third Floor Pathway in the Oblivia Ruins and the Main Room on the Third Floor of the Oblivia Region's Sky Fortress in the Present, and in the Dark Temple missions "Ground-Shaking Dragon Pokémon" and Glowing Roads in the Darkness" in the Past by defeating it and obtaining its Slate.

The only way to obtain a Gabite in Pokémon Conquest is to evolve a Gible.

[edit] Trading Card Game

Gabite is listed as an Uncommon Card in Pokémon Organized Play Series 9, along with the Mysterious Treasures, Supreme Victors and Dragons Exalted (2) sets.

[edit] Anime/Manga Information

[edit] Anime

Ursala would use a Gabite in a number of her contest appearances against Dawn, starting with the episode Another One Gabites the Dust and, most recently, Coming Full Festival Circle!, which was the Semi-Finals of the Sinnoh Grand Festival.

[edit] Movies

Gabite has yet to appear in any of the films as of writing.

[edit] Manga

Gabite's Manga Information is unknown as of writing.

[edit] Pokémon Information

[edit] Competitive Battling

Gabite is a viable option in the Never-Utilized and Rarely-Utilized Tiers of Competitive Battling. It's typing, stats and type coverage with moves of its dual-typing make it an offensive threat physically. With the right support it can be a major offensive threat, but it doesn't have any moves that would boost its Speed, and without Eviolite it's easier to beat. With or without Eviolite Gabite is still prone to being revenge-KO'd.
