Galvantula resides in the Underused (UU) tier of competitive battling. With access to the coveted Sticky Web, Galvantula is able to distinguish itself from other Electric-type Pokémon such as Heliolisk with valuable team support especially for slower wallbreakers. Galvantula's ability Compound Eyes vastly improves the accuracy of its moves, allowing Galvantula to use STAB Thunder with 91% accuracy. Galvantula's STAB Bug Buzz and coverage options like Energy Ball allow it to deal with a number of Electric-type switch-ins, entry hazard removers such as Mega Blastoise, Empoleon, and Crobat, and Magic Bounce users like Espeon and Mega Absol. Galvantula's biggest flaws are that it is extremely frail, which means that it can be easy to pick off, and that it needs Life Orb to have decent enough power or else it will prove to be non-threatening for many Pokémon against it.
