Generation I

Generation I, or Color Generation were the first set of Pokémon games released. It is the term applied to the Game Boy games Pokémon Red, Pokémon Green, Pokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow versions. The game consists of the first 151 Pokémon.
Starters
This generation started the trend of starter Pokémon. They always consist of a Grass, Fire, and Water Pokémon. The starters were:
However, in Pokémon Yellow the starter is Pikachu.
Gym Leaders
In Generation I, the first ever Gym Leaders were introduced. They each have their own specific Pokémon type they favor.
