Giratina (ギラティナ) is the 487th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Ghost/Dragon-Type, and is known as the Renegade Pokémon.
The Abilities that Giratina use depend on its forme. In its Altered Forme, Giratina uses the Pressure Ability, which reduces the PP of its opponents by 2 whenever those opponents use one of its Moves. A second Ability is available to Giratina Altered Forme from the Dream World, the Telepathy Ability. This Ability protects it from taking damage from its Allies during a Double Battle and a Triple Battle.
Giratina Origin Forme uses the Levitate Ability, which makes it immune to Ground-Type attacks and Ground-based entry hazards.
Giratina doesn't evolve and doesn't have a pre-evolved form. However, it can change from its Altered Forme into its Origin Forme if it is holding a Griseous Orb.
Giratina is in the Undiscovered Egg Group; like most Legendary Pokémon Giratina cannot breed. It takes Giratina 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

[edit] Physiology
[edit] Altered Forme
In its Altered Forme, Giratina takes on the appearance of a grey dragon with six legs. Its black wings have three spikes on each wing. It has a gold mask on its face and a set of three rib-like claws on its chest.
Giratina takes on its Altered Forme appearance outside the Distortion World, and when it isn't holding a Griseous Orb.
[edit] Origin Forme
In its Origin Forme, Giratina takes on a radically different appearance, as it takes the form of a grey serpent-like dragon. Its wings are in three pairs with a claw at the end of each wing. The set of three rib-like claws appear to have opened up, if ever so slightly, and in the place of its legs are three pairs of spikes.
Giratina appears as its Origin Forme inside the Distortion World, or if it is holding a Griseous Orb.
[edit] Gender Differences
Giratina is a Genderless Pokémon species.
[edit] Game Information
[edit] Original Games
Giratina can be found at the end of Turnback Cave in Diamond and Pearl, an area that's accessible after obtaining the National Pokédex. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, if an Arceus is in your party when going to the Shinto Ruins, you'll have the opportunity to have it create a Giratina.
In Pokémon Platinum, however, Giratina plays a critical part in the game's story line. After reaching Spear Pillar, a portal will open up to the Distortion World. At its end you battle Cyrus; while your Pokémon will get healed up before the battle it won't be easy because it's at Level 47.
While playing Pokémon Dream Radar, if Pokémon Platinum is in the Nintendo 3DS, you'll have a chance of encountering Giratina.
[edit] Spin-Off Games
Giratina can be found at the Bottom of World Abyss in Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky.
Giratina is the Boss of the Ranger Net mission "Find Giratina's Griseous Orb!" This Ranger Net mission takes place at the Oblivia Ruins, and the mission features two battles against Giratina: one for each Forme. Giratina also appears as a Mini-Boss in the Ranger Net mission "Pledge to Arceus." It occupies the room on the left.
Giratina can be found at any of the Hauntyard levels in either its Altered Forme or Origin Forme in Pokémon Rumble Blast after completing the game.
[edit] Trading Card Game
Giratina is listed in the 11th Movie Commemoration Set, the 2009 Movie Premiere Pack, the Team Plasma Gift Set, the Diamond/Pearl, Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, and the Black/White Promo sets. It is listed as a Rare Card in the Legends Awakened and Platinum (4) sets; and is listed as an Ultra Rare Card in the Platinum and Dragons Exalted sets. All three Ultra Rare Cards are also EX Cards.
[edit] Anime/Manga Information
[edit] Anime
In the episode Try for the Family Stone!, an Altered Forme Giratina startled Ash and company, however it was only an illusion.
[edit] Movies
Giratina makes it's anime debut in Pokémon Movie 11: Giratina and the Sky Warrior. It plays the starring role and is put into a battle with Palkia and Dialga. Giratina is seen in both of its Formes in the film, and lures Dialga into the Reverse World to get revenge on him.Giratina also makes an appearance in Arceus and the Jewel of Life.
[edit] Manga
Team Rocket Executives attempted to use the power of Arceus to create a replication of Dialga, Palkia and Giratina, but the plan was stopped, and the three dragons never materialized.
[edit] Pokémon Information
[edit] Competitive Battling
Giratina finds itself in the Uber Tier of Competitive Battling regardless the Forme that it is in. It is very capable offensively with high offensive statistics and a great movepool, and defensively with very high HP and Defenses, along with blocking Rapid Spin. Its type weaknesses are worth exploiting, and can help to defeat Giratina.
