Grimer (ベトベター) is the 88th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Poison-Type, and is known as the Sludge Pokémon.

Grimer can use one of two Abilities; Stench, which may make the opponent flinch when making physical contact, or Sticky Hold, which prevents the opponent from taking its held item. Its Hidden Ability is Poison Touch, which gives a 30% chance of poisoning the opponent when using a move that requires physical contact.

Grimer can evolve into Muk upon reaching Level 38.

Grimer is in the Amorphous Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 steps to hatch. It takes Grimer 1,000,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Grimer is a pile of purple sludge that is poisonous. It has large eyes with tiny, black pupils and its tongue is a grey-purple color. Girmer have two arms.

Original Games

Grimer appears at the Pokémon Mansion in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, as well as the Power Plant in Yellow. In Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal, it can be caught in the wild at Route 16, Route 17, Route 18 and Celadon City.

In Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, Grimer can be found at the Fiery Path. In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, it be caught at Celadon City and the Pokémon Mansion.

Grimer can be caught in the wild at the south end of Route 212 using the Poké Radar in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, it appears at Route 16, Route 17, Route 18 and Celadon City. It can also be caught in the Marshland area of the Safari Zone.

Grimer appears in the Castelia Sewers in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. In Pokémon X and Y, the only way to obtain one is to breed Muk. In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, it can be caught in the wild at the Fiery Path.

Yellow Made of hardened sludge. It smells too putrid to touch. Even weeds won't grow in its path.
II Gold As it moves, it loses bits of its body from which new Grimer emerge. This worsens the stench around it.
Silver Wherever Grimer has passed, so many germs are left behind that no plants will ever grow again.
Crystal When two of these Pokémon's bodies are combined together, new poisons are created.
III Ruby Grimer's sludgy and rubbery body can be forced through any opening, however small it may be. This Pokémon enters sewer pipes to drink filthy wastewater.
Sapphire Grimer emerged from the sludge that settled on a polluted seabed. This Pokémon loves anything filthy. It constantly leaks a horribly germ- infested fluid from all over its body.
Emerald Born from polluted sludge in the sea, Grimer's favorite food is anything filthy. They feed on wastewater pumped out from factories.
FireRed Sludge exposed to X rays from the moon transformed into Grimer. It loves feeding on filthy things.
