Grotle (ハヤシガメ) is the second Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. It is a Grass Type, and it is known as the Grove Pokémon.

Grotle has the Overgrow Ability. This Ability increases the power of all its Grass Type attacks by 50% when its HP falls below a third [33%] of its maximum. A second Ability is available to Grotle that come from the Dream World, the Shell Armor Ability. This Ability prevents opponents from landing a Critical Hit.

Turtwig can evolve into a Grotle starting at Level 18, and gain the opportunity to evolve a second time into Torterra starting at Level 32.

Grotle is in the Egg Groups Monster and Grass, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Grotle 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Grotle takes on the appearance of a green turtle that has a pair of bush-like plants growing on its back.

The only way to obatin a Grotle is by evolving a Turtwig.

Like its base form Turtwig, Grotle appears at Mystifying Forest B1-B13 and Mystery Jungle B1-B29 in Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness. The floor ranges are the same in Explorers of Sky, but the two respective dungeons are called Mystic Forest and Mystery Jungle.

In Mystery Dungeon 3, Grotle appears at Weird Mountain, Weird Rockland and Weird Forest 10F-14F and Final Mountain, Final Island and Final Cave 21F-26F.

Grotle appears at Vien Forest in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Grotle appears in the Northwest section of Canal Ruins in the Present, and in the Thunder Temple mission Are You for Riolu in the Past by getting an S Rank in the Mission.

Grotle appears at Sunny Seashore Desert 4-3 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

Ash's Turtwig would evolve into Grotle in the episode Aiding the Enemy, and would evolve into a Torterra in the episode The Fleeting Tower of Sunyshore!. Unfortunately, Volkner had to postpone his Gym Battle with Ash as a result of Team Rocket's attack on Sunyshore City during the events of that episode.

Prior to that, Grotle put on an impressive battle against Candice in Ash's Gym Battle at Snowpoint City, defeating her Sneasel before being beaten by her Abomasnow.
