This page is designed as a comprehensive guide to all the Gym battles and the Elite 4 in Pokemon Yellow; Special Pikachu Edition. It will tell you the level and types of all the pokemon each Gym Leader and Elite 4 member use, as well as what badges and TMs are given to you after beating the Leaders of each Gym, and finally what effects each badge and TM has in-game. You receive no TMs or badges for beating Elite 4 members, however.

Pewter Gym

Leader: Brock

Type: Rock

This will be your first experience of gym battling

Badge Given: Boulder Badge. This allows the use of the Hidden Machine Flash outside of battle.

TM Given: TM 34, Bide. This move deals two times the amount of damage taken to the opponent in the two turns it is active.

TM Given: TM 21, Mega Drain. A moderately powered Grass type move, which recovers the user's health by an amount equal to half the damage caused.

TM Given: TM 27, Fissure. This move will one-hit KO any pokemon it hits. However, it is very inaccurate, with only a 30% hit rate, and only affects pokemon of a lower level than the user.


The Elite 4

Type: Ice

The first member of the Elite his an Ice-type Master, however many of her pokemon are also of the Water type, and so Thunderbolt is a very useful move here.

Agatha

Type: Ghost

Whilst Gengar have a low Defense stat, they are completely immune to the strongest physical assaults - Normal and Fighting type moves. They can also deal very large amounts of damage owing to their huge Special stat, as well as taking little from weaker Special moves.

Again there are diverse types, but Flareon is much easier to take down than either Vaporeon or Jolteon - he has poor Speed and Defenses and not many highly offensive moves
