Pewter City
The first badge of the game, the trainers of the Pewter City gym have a thing for rock types, making it tough to damage them physically unless you're lucky enough to have a fighting-type Pokemon like Mankey at this point in the game or unless you have Metal Claw on Charmander. Otherwise, Vine Whip from Bulbasaur or Bubble/Water Gun from Squirtle will be your main key to victory.
