A Gym Leader Is Powerful Trainer of which there are 8 per region, They play a sort of 'Boss' Role in the games and all 8 must be defeated before the Elite 4 can be challenged. Upon their defeat, the challenger is awarded a Gym badge. Each Gym and it's Gym Leader specializes in using one type of pokemon.

Bugsy - Bug Types

Whitney - Normal Types

Morty - Ghost Types

Chuck - Fighting Types

Jasmine - Steel Types

Pryce - Ice Types

Clair - Dragon Types

Roxanne - Rock Types

Brawly - Fighting Types

Wattson - Electric Types

Flannery - Fire Types

Dark is the only type that has not been done (although 2 Elite 4 members, Karen and Sidney use it).
