Important Locations and People

Amity Square

Main Article: Amity Square

North of Hearthome City is Amity Square, where the player can walk around with one of several "cute" Pokémon and collect Accessories and Berries. Amity Square is accessible from the northeast and northwest corners of Hearthome City. The park was expanded in Pokémon Platinum, compared to its design in Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, and both entrances are required to access the entire park.

Pokémon Contest Hall

Located at the north end of the city, the Contest Hall brings an expanded version of the Contests from Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, and Pokémon Emerald, known as Super Contests.

There are three options for gameplay in the Contest Hall: Practice, Single, and Link Contests. Practice Contests are located at the far right counter and allow the player to practice one segment of a Contest at a time. Single Contests are located at the middle counter and allow the player to play against 3 NPCs for Ribbons. Link Contests allow the player to play against up to 3 friends in a similar fashion to Single Contests.

The first time the player enters the Contest Hall, they will receive a Tuxedo or a Dress, depending on the gender of the player. They will also receive a Glitter Powder from Keira. In Pokémon Platinum, the player can also speak with Fantina to unlock the third Gym battle.

Poffin House

Next to the Pokémart on the south half of Hearthome City is the Poffin House. Here you have the option to make Poffins, a treat with the same effect as Pokéblock: increasing a Pokémon's Condition, and in addition, their performance in the Visual round of a Super Contest. The player has the option to make Poffins alone or with up to 3 friends, and both options are accessed by speaking to the woman by the Poffin cooker.

Pokémon Fan Club

The Pokémon Fan Club is located in the southeast of the city. Here the player can receive a Poffin Case and check the Friendship level of your Pokémon.

Bebe's House

Next to the Pokémon Center is the home of Sinnoh's PC Administrator, Bebe. After meeting Bebe, "Someone's PC" will be changed to "Bebe's PC." Bebe will also give the player an Eevee if they have an empty spot in their party.

Mr. Goods

Behind the Poffin House, an NPC with the Artist overworld sprite named Mr. Goods is waiting. He will award the player with different items depending on whether certain conditions have been met by the player. These items can be used to decorate the player's Secret Base.

Hearthome Gym

Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl

In Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, the Hearthome Gym was the fifth Gym the player could challenge. In order to proceed through the Gym, the player had to solve simple mathematical problems and go through the door with the corresponding answer. Choosing the wrong door led to a battle with a Gym Trainer. Using the Pokétch's Calculator App provided a simple way of solving these problems and avoiding the extra battles. After proceeding through five floors, the player can battle Fantina.

Pokémon Level Type(s) Ability Held Item Moves
Drifblim Lv. 32 Ghost/Flying Aftermath None Ominous Wind (Ghost, Special) Minimize (Normal, Status) Gust (Flying, Special) Astonish (Ghost, Physical)

Pokémon Platinum

The Hearthome Gym was one of the Gyms that got a redesign in Pokémon Platinum. The Gym now consists of two main puzzles. In both, the player will have to find a blue tile on the floor with a symbol on it, then proceed through the door with the matching symbol in front of it. The rooms will be darkened, and the player will be given a flashlight to illuminate the area immediately in front of them. Trainers with flashlights will be roaming the Gym, and if they catch the player, a battle will ensue. Walking through the wrong door will send the player back to the entry hall. Because the player can access the Gym much sooner, all of Fantina's Pokémon have been given a lower level. Once the player has beaten Fantina, they will gain access to a warp panel that will take them back to the entry hall.

Pokémon Level Type(s) Ability Held Item Moves

Despite being the third Gym in Pokémon Platinum, the Relic Badge and Fantina's icon will both appear in the fifth slot in the player's badge case.
