Competitive Battling

Hitmonchan is in the Neverused (NU) tier of competitive battling. With a good Attack stat, decent Speed stat, solid STAB options, and a good Special Defense stat, Hitmonchan can switch into certain threats and immediately threaten them out with powerful attacks. Iron Fist is a good ability that boosts most of Hitmonchan's attacks, including priority Mach Punch, which can prove helpful against faster offensive threats. It can use Rapid Spin to remove entry hazards, which proves to be an invaluable attribute that sets it apart from other Fighting-types in the tier. Its best set is a physical attacker set with Life Orb or a Fist Plate that can smack things hard with STAB Drain Punch or Close Combat while providing Rapid Spin support and strong priority. It can also run an Assault Vest set that gives it a boost in its already decent special bulk which allows for it to check certain special attackers while still providing Rapid Spin support. Unfortunately, Hitmonchan does not learn Knock Off, which means that it struggles against the likes of Rotom, Gourgeist-XL, and Mismagius, which can take Hitmonchan's attacks or block Rapid Spin and burn it with Will-O-Wisp.
