Biology

Physiology

Hitmontop is a Pokémon that is always upside-down. Its main body is a sphere with its arms, legs, and tail extending from it. Its lower body light blue, other than one triangle on its torso and the bottom of its feet. It has bandage-looking stripes on its arms and legs, round feet that resemble those of Hitmonlee. Hitmontop also has another sphere for a head, with a spike on the top of its head that it always balances on.

Gender Differences

Hitmontop can only be a male.

Competitive Battling

Hitmontop is a part of the Rarelyused (RU) tier of competitive battling. With access to Rapid Spin and Foresight, Hitmontop can remove entry hazards without too much trouble when it gets an opportunity to do so. Intimidate and solid overall bulk allows for it to hold up well against certain threats and allows for it to fit onto balanced and defensive teams alike. However, Hitmontop is very vulnerable to status ailments, which can prove problematic against Ghost-types that like to run Will-O-Wisp or against teams utilizing Toxic Spikes. It also has no form of reliable recovery and a low HP stat undermines its decent defensive stats to only above-average. It also faces competition from plenty of other entry hazard removers, such as Flygon, Togetic, and Pelipper, all of which have reliable recovery to keep themselves healthy.
