Honchkrow (Sinnoh Pokédex. It is a Dark/Flying Type, and is known as the Big Boss Pokémon.) is the 75th Pokémon in the
Honchkrow can use one of two Abilities: Insomnia, which gives it an immunity to Sleep; or Super Luck, which doubles the Critical Hit Ratio of its attacks. Honchkrow use a different Dream World Ability than their previous form, as they use the Moxie Ability. This Ability increases its Attack by one stage each time it KO's an opposing Pokémon.
Honchkrow is in the Flying Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Honchkrow 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.
Honchkrow takes on the appearance of a dark crow whose head fur resembles that of a cowboy hat. The only parts that aren't dark are its yellow beak, light-colored chest fur and the red portion of its tail, which resembles a bush-like plant.
Unlike its previous form Murkrow, Honchkrow doesn't have any differences to differentiate between Male and Female.
Honchkrow can be found at Sky Rift B1-B15, DPB1-B4 & DPB6-B9 in Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness. In Explorers of Sky, the floor range is the same but the dungeon is known as Sky Fissure. Honchkrow appears in all three versions of Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at Weird Mountain, Weird Rockland and Weird Forest on the even-numbered floors from 12F-22F; and Legendary Volcanic Island on floors 28, 30, 32-34, 36, 39, 43, 46, and 48 & 49; at Legendary Wetland it appears on floors 28-32, 34, 36 & 37, 40, 42-44, 47 and 49; and at Legendary Mountains on floors 31-37, 39, 42-44 and 47.
Honchkrow appears at the Oil Field Hideout in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Honchkrow appears in the Skies of the Oblivia Region in the Present; and in the Dark Temple Missions "Danger! Surrounded by Pokémon!" and "Ground-Shaking Dragon Pokémon!" by defeating it and obtaining its Slate.
Honchkrow can be obtained in the Haunted Zone by battling it after obtaining Murkrow in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Honchkrow appears at the Tech Area's Train Depot after befriending Murkrow. Battle Honchkrow to befriend it, after which you'll be able to call Honchkrow into battle.
Trading Card Game
Honchkrow is listed as a Common Card in the Platinum set, and as a Rare Card in the Mysterious Treasures, Supreme Victors, Undaunted (2) and Dragons Exalted sets. Honchkrow is listed as an Ultra Rare Card in the Secret Wonders set, this Honchkrow being a Lv. X Card.
Paul has used a Honchkrow since the episode Lost Leader Strategy!. It would lose to Ash's freshly-evolved Staraptor in the episode Pursuing a Lofty Goal, which featured a PokéRinger Contest, and would also be used in Paul's first 6-on-6 battle against Ash. It defeated Grotle, then was substituted.
Honchkrow's Manga Information is unknown as of writing.
Honchkrow resides in the Borderline 2 (BL2) tier of competitive battling, which means that it is banned from the Rarelyused (RU) tier but not used enough to be in the Underused (UU) tier. With a high base 125 Attack, great offensive typing, solid ability in Moxie, and strong priority in Sucker Punch, Honchkrow is a Pokémon not to be underestimated. It can be a strong wallbreaker and late game cleaner thanks to the snowball effect that Moxie can bring with each Attack boost, and a strong STAB in Brave Bird to complement Sucker Punch can heavily damage opposing teams. Honchkrow can even play mind games with Pursuit and hit Steel-types that resist its Brave Bird with Superpower. However, Honchkrow suffers from having a mediocre defensive typing and being easy to wear down due to Life Orb and Brave Bird recoil to go along with a Stealth Rock weakness, even though Roost can alleviate this somewhat. Honchkrow also has poor defenses and a mediocre Speed stat, meaning that it will be heavily reliant on Sucker Punch and can be taken out by Pokémon that can tank a Sucker Punch, such as Cobalion or Heracross.
