Ivysaur (フシギソウ) is the second Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Grass/Poison type, and it is known as the Seed Pokémon.

Ivysaur has the Overgrow Ability. Using this Ability, when Ivysaur has less than or equal to a third HP all of its Grass type moves become 50% stronger. Its Hidden Ability is Chlorophyll, which doubles its Speed stat when it is sunny.

Bulbasaur can evolve into Ivysaur starting at Level 16, and can evolve to Venusaur once it reaches Level 32.

Ivysaur is in the Egg Groups Monster and Grass, and its Egg will take approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Ivysaur 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Contents

Biology

Physiology

Ivysaur, like its pre-evolved form Bulbasaur, resembles a toad or a dinosaur, though the patches in its skin cause it to more closely resemble a dinosaur. After evolving from Bulbasaur, Ivysaur grows small fangs, and has visible ear insides and pupils. Ivysaur's skin is also more blue than Bulbasaur's. The most notable difference in Ivysaur's appearance however, is that its bulb has changed into a pink flower bud with leaves extending. This flower bud is heavy, thus making its back legs grow strong and sturdy to support it, at the expense of no longer being able to rise on its hind legs.

Gender Differences

Ivysaur doesn't have any visible characteristics to help differentiate between male and female.

Game Information

Original Games

In most of its game appearances, the only way to obtain Ivysaur is to evolve a Bulbasaur. In Pokémon X and Y, however, it can be caught in the Friend Safari.

Spin Off Games

Ivysaur can be obtained in Pokémon Trozei! at Secret Storage 2 and Mr. Who's Den. Ivysaur can be obtained at Western Cave 19F-27F in the first Mystery Dungeon games, and can be found at Lila Forest in Pokémon Ranger.

Ivysaur appears in both Mystifying Forest B1-B13 and Mystery Jungle B1-B29 in both Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky. Explorers of Sky also has Ivysaur at Sky Summit PTC1-4 1F-3F, PTC5-8 1F-4F, and PTC9 1F-5F. Ivysaur returns in all three versions of Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at each game's respective Mystery [8F-12F] and Final [24F-28F] themed areas.

Ivysaur was absent in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, but returned for Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs.

Ivysaur can be found at Everspring Valley Forest 4-2 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.

Trading Card Game

Ivysaur has appeared in 9 different sets and four special sets, the special sets being Southern Islands, Best of Game, POP Series 2 as an Uncommon card, and POP Series 3 as a Common card. All nine main set appearances by Ivysaur-Base, Gym Challenge, Expedition, EX FireRed and Leaf Green, EX Crystal Guardians (2), Secret Wonders, Supreme Victors and Dark Explorers-have Ivysaur listed as Uncommon cards.

Other Appearances

Ivysaur also appears in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as one of the three Pokémon used by the Pokémon Trainer, the other two being Charizard and Squirtle.

Anime/Manga Information
