Kecleon uses the Color Change Ability. This Ability changes Kecleon's type to the type of the last damage-dealing attack that struck it. Potentially, this could allow Kecleon to temporarily become a pure Flying Type during the battle.
Kecleon does not evolve and does not have a pre-evolved form.

Kecleon finds itself in the Neverused (NU) tier of competitive battling. With a great offensive movepool that gives it well-rounded coverage and Protean to give it STAB on every attack, Kecleon functions as a good niche wallbreaker that can break through common Normal-type checks. With coverage moves like Fire Blast, Iron Tail, and Grass Knot, Kecleon can do significant damage against Pokémon like Steelix, Gourgeist-XL, Mega Audino, Gastrodon, and Rhydon. It also has one of the tier's strongest Sucker Punches, allowing for it to hit faster, frailer foes hard with a STAB priority attack. However, Kecleon suffers greatly in terms of its Speed stat, as it has to invest heavily in order to outspeed certain walls and makes it susceptible against faster teams that can easily tank a Sucker Punch. Kecleon's bulk is relatively average, which limits its switch-in opportunities as neutral hits will leave a dent.
