Kingdra is a water dragon Pokemon which was introduced in the pokemon games in Generation II. Its NationalDex number is #230.It evolved from Seadra while holding a Dragon Scale then traded. Kingdra is the final form of Horsea. Kingdra is an exteremly poweful Pokemon, it commonly causes sea storms. Clair, a gym leader of the Dragon types for Generation II, always has Kingdra in her team for battle.
Kingdra is based of two animals, the weedy seadragon and the seahorse. It is mostly blue with some yellow on its belly. Kingdra has no limbs, it has a large tail that is usually coiled. It has a long thin snout which can send out powerful moves. It has a long piece that is fin-like that goes across its check. Under that part is a small white fin that is sort of see-through. It has two antennae-like features on the top of its head that looks like coral. It has a small eye with the iris colour red. On its back is a large fin that is white and it has blue coral like features on it, like its antennaes.
Kingdra has no gender differences.
Kingdra resides in the Borderline 2 (BL2) tier of competitive battling, meaning that it is banned from the Rarelyused (RU) tier but not used enough to be officially a part of the Underused (UU) tier. In UU, Kingdra is capable of becoming a sweeper in numerous ways due to its many different set-up moves. Kingdra's best set in the tier is its CritDra set with Focus Energy and Scope Lens, which along with Sniper allows for Kingdra to do immense damage with critical attacks. It can remedy its somewhat average Speed with Agility, and its STABs are only resisted in the tier by Empoleon. Kingdra can also opt for a Dragon Dance set or a Rain Dance sweeper set with Swift Swim, both of which give Kingdra a different dimension in terms of its versatility. However, Kingdra is not without flaws, as it can usually be rather easily revenge killed due to its average Speed by Choice Scarf Dragon-types like Hydreigon while also making it hard for it to set-up. Kingdra also suffers from the presence of Fairy-types like Florges, which is extremely prominent in the tier and prevents Kingdra from spamming its Dragon-type attacks like it used to.
Kingdra is also a viable option in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling. Due to having Swift Swim, Kingdra can become a fearsome wallbreaker and sweeper under rain provided by Drizzle Politoed. Kingdra's typing does not stack weaknesses on a rain team as it takes neutral damage from Electric and Grass-type attacks, unlike some of its other Swift Swim competition. Due to its attacking stats, Kingdra can opt for a mixed approach and surprise some special walls with an Outrage. Its best set is its Choice Specs set that can destroy many Pokémon with rain boosted Hydro Pumps and wear down checks and counters like Ferrothorn with Scald burns. Kingdra can also opt for a Life Orb set that can go mixed and has more freedom as to what moves it can make. Despite all these great traits, Kingdra does have somewhat underwhelming bulk, as it can usually not tank Talonflame's Brave Bird or Bisharp's Sucker Punch too well. Since rain can only last a maximum of eight turns, Kingdra is left to dry without it and can be rather exploitable without the luxury of rain.
