Game Information

Original Games

Originally seen by many different Trainers through the middle part of the game, Koffing can be found in the Wild at the Pokémon Mansion in Red and Blue, but has to be traded for one in Yellow. Koffing that are caught in Generation I games will be holding a Berry should they be traded to a Generation II title, including Pokémon Stadium 2.

Wild Koffing can be found within Burned Tower in Gold, Silver and Crystal, with differing rarity values in Crystal.

While Koffing can be found on Fiery Path in Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, trainers will have a harder time finding wild Koffing in Sapphire. In Fire Red and Leaf Green, Koffing can be rarely found by surfing in Celadon City, as well as appearances in the Pokémon Mansion, where it's more likely to find one in Fire Red than in Leaf Green.

The only way to get a Koffing in Diamond and Pearl is to use a Transfer via Pal Park, a Trade or breeding a Weezing. Wild Koffing can be found inside Stark Mountain in Platinum. Koffing reprise their appearance at Burnt Tower in Heart Gold and Soul Silver as well as appearing in the Safari Zone's Marshland, plus appearing on the Pokéwalker course Town Outskirts.

PokéTransfer or Trading is the only way to get a Koffing onto Black and White; while Koffing could be found at the Dream World area Rugged Mountain, Dream World was discontinued, making that area inaccessible. Koffing can be found at Virbank Complex in Black 2 and White 2.

While a Transfer or Trade is required to get a Koffing in X and Y, wild Koffing can be found on Fiery Path in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Spin-Off Games

Koffing makes appearances at Phobosphere, Endless Level 32, Forever Level 15 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.

Koffing can be found in the Underground Waterways in Pokémon Ranger; and Chroma Ruins in Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Koffing can be found at Rasp Cavern's Entrance in the Present, and in the Ice Temple mission "Round and Round! Find the Floor!" by defeating it and obtaining its Slate.

Crystal If one gets close enough to it when it expels poisonous gas, the gas swirling inside it can be seen.
