Krookodile finds itself in the Underused (UU) tier of competitive battling. With great STAB attacks in Earthquake and Knock Off, good overall stats, and handy abilities in Intimidate and Moxie, Krookodile is a standout threat in the tier. Its offensive movepool gives it numerous options to cover checks like Superpower to destroy Hydreigon or Stone Edge to hit Crobat, and it can play many different roles in the tier. A Choice Band set is Krookodile's best set, with the ability to hit very hard with its STAB attacks and coverage attacks while checking certain physical attackers like Lucario with Intimidate or Pursuit trapping frail Psychic and Ghost-types like Azelf and Chandelure. Krookodile can also run a non-Choice attacking set with either Dread Plate, Life Orb, or an Earth Plate to deal a great deal of damage while providing either Taunt support or Stealth Rock support. A Choice Scarf Moxie set can act as a late-game cleaner thanks to Krookodile's great STAB attacks and power. Krookodile's biggest flaws are that it has some common weaknesses to Water and Fighting and that its Speed, while decent, is sometimes not enough to outspeed a lot of the metagame that can take it out.
