Kyurem (キュレム) is the 152nd Pokémon in the Unova Pokédex. It is a Dragon/Ice Type, and it is known as the Boundary Pokémon.

Kyurem normally uses the Pressure Ability. When an opposing Pokémon uses an attack regardless of its effect, the PP of that move is reduced by 2 instead of 1. When Kyurem is transformed into Black Kyurem, it uses the Teravolt Ability; when transformed into White Kyurem it uses the Turboblaze Ability. Both Abilities have the same effect, as both Abilities will allow for the moves of the respective user to hit regardless of their opponents' Ability.

Kyurem doesn't evolve and doesn't have a pre-evolved form.

Kyurem is in the Undiscovered Egg Group; like most Legendary Pokémon Kyurem cannot breed. It takes Kyurem 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Kyurem takes on the appearance of a dragon with ice-like formations on its head, wings and tail.

Black Kyurem takes on the appearance of a Zekrom with Kyurem's ice growths that appear on its face, left arm, right shoulder, its feet, and a covering on its tail.

White Kyurem takes on the appearance of a Reshiram combined with the icy growths of a Kyurem, which appear on its face, left arm, right shoulder, knees, and feet. A covering appears on its tail, which is similar to the tail covering that appears on Black Kyurem but shaped differently.

On February 25, 2012, two new versions of Kyurem were revealed, along with the announcement of two new Generation V Games, Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2. The two versions of Kyurem can be viewed at this link, [1] which resemble a cross between Kyurem & Reshiram (White Kyurem), and Kyurem & Zekrom (Black Kyurem).

Both forms retain the Dragon/Ice typing that Kyurem normally uses. To merge Kyurem with either Reshiram and Zekrom, or to un-merge the two Pokémon, use the DNA Link Pin.

Kyurem's competitve tier is in the BL (BorderLine) tier for the time being. It started in the UU (UnderUsed) Tier of competitive battling, but was deemed too powerful for UU play and was thus banned to the BL Tier. This means that you can only use Kyurem in the OU (OverUsed) Tier of competitive battling. Its formes, though, were automatically banned to Ubers, due to their raw power.

On February 26, 2012 alongside the announcement of the new games Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2, two alternate formes of Kyurem were released, appearing as fusions between itself, Reshiram and Zekrom. This could be based on the lore of Unova that Reshiram and Zekrom were once one Dragon, and the remains of the carcass of their former body after they split was that of Kyurem.
