Light Ball

A Light Ball (でんきだま) is a held-item exclusive to Pikachu and its evolutionary line. The item doubles Pikachu's Attack and Special Attack. If the item is held while the player is breeding either a Pikachu or Raichu, the Pichu that hatches from the egg will have the egg move Volt Tackle.

Fling's Effect

When the holder of Fling is holding a Light Ball, the move's Base Damage is 30, and the opponent may also become afflicted with Paralysis.

Past Effects: Generations 2 and 3

Pikachu that hold a Light Ball in Gold, Silver, Crystal, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Fire Red and Leaf Green receive a 100% Increase in their Special Attack Statistic, but not Attack. The Attack Statistic was increased in conjunction with the Special Attack Statistic starting in Generation IV.

Locations Found

Trades

Trade the Pikachu that is the Starter Pokémon from the Generation I game Pokémon Yellow to a Generation II game to obtain a Light Orb.

In the Wild

A Wild Pikachu has a 5% chance of holding a Light Orb in Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold and Soul Silver. A Wild Pikachu only has a 1% chance of holding a Light Orb in Black and White, but the new mechanics for the Pickup Ability means that the Light Orb could possibly get picked up...provided the Pokémon with the Pickup Ability isn't already holding an item, that is.

Trainers

Pokémon Trainer Red's Pikachu is holding a Light Orb in, and can be obtained by using Thief or Covet. Red can be battled on the top of Mt. Silver in Heart Gold and Soul Silver.

Pokéwalker

A Light Orb can be found on the Pokéwalker course Yellow Forest after walking 7000 steps or more by using the Pokéwalker's Dowsing Machine function.
