How many Pokémon have this ability
Lightning Rod is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Currently, 17 Pokémon have this Ability.
Lightning Rod draws all Electric-type attacks to the user of this Ability. In a Double Battle, the Electric-type move is drawn to the Pokémon that has this Ability whether it was targeted or not.
Originally, typing of the user would also count into whether any damage was done or not--only Ground-type Pokémon were immune to damage, and Lightning Rod only took effect in a Double Battle.
As of Generation V, typing doesn't matter as all Pokémon with Lightning Rod are immune to damage and gain an increase in their Special Attack Statistic by one stage, unless that Pokémon is a Ground-Type. In this situation the aforementioned moves are still drawn to the Pokémon but it doesn't receive a boost.
Lightning Rod will cause Trainers to receive more calls on their Pokénav in Pokémon Emerald.
