Magearna is in the Undiscovered Egg Group. It takes Magearna 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.
Magearna's mechanical appearance is mostly a metallic pink/purple. Its head is adorned with a gear not dissimilar to a Klink's gear, and two curved ears resembling a rabbit's.
For an upper body, Magearna's chest is adorned with a Poke Ball-like fixture, with its center showing a blue side and a pink side. Its arms almost resemble the pick-like legs of an insect.
Magearna's lower body, from its stomach down to its lower legs, is adorned with a skirt-like structure resembling a Poke Ball down to the bottom part being white. Its legs stick out from the frontal slit in the skirt.

Magearna is in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling, standing out as among the best Pokémon in the tier. With a great Special Attack stat, a terrific offensive movepool, and well-rounded bulk, it can function as a potent sweeper thanks to Shift Gear or an Assault Vest tank. With Z-Moves, Magearna can muscle its way through conventional checks like Heatran and Toxapex with an All-Out Pummeling and Gigavolt Havoc, respectively, making it a difficult threat to predict. Its ability Soul-Heart gives it a Special Attack boost every time it defeats a Pokémon, making it a stronger threat that can snowball into a difficult sweeper to deal with. Its bulk and typing are terrific, giving it the ability to check threats like Greninja, Tapu Lele, Latios, and Gengar. The best Magearna set is the aforementioned Shift Gear set with Thunderbolt and Ice Beam to have the great BoltBeam coverage. The last move on that set can come down to Focus Blast to smash Heatran, Excadrill, and Ferrothorn, or Calm Mind to act as a Double Dance sweeper. It can also run an Assault Vest set that acts as a wonderful check to a lot of special attackers while being able to hit relatively hard with its STAB Fleur Cannon and being able to maintain momentum against unfavorable situations with Volt Switch. A Trick Room set is also very good, as Magearna can use its mediocre Speed stat to its advantage by being able to outspeed a large chunk of the metagame under Trick Room. With Z-Moves, Magearna can unleash a Twinkle Tackle or Gigavolt Havoc to get the ball rolling with Soul-Heart boosts. While Magearna is a top-tier Pokémon, it can be bait for some of the most threatening Pokémon in the tier, such as Landorus-T, Volcarona, Zygarde, and Mega Charizard Y. This does not diminish its high value as a threat, though, as it has solidified itself as a Pokémon that every team should watch out for.
Magearna is also viable in the Uber tier of competitive battling. Thanks to its high bulk and good defensive typing, Magearna works as a blanket check to some of the biggest threats in the tier, such as Xerneas, Yveltal, Deoxys-A, Darkrai, and Mewtwo without Fire Blast. Heart Swap gives Magearna the ability to steal boosts from some of these potent special attackers, making it one of the best checks to Xerneas and Calm Mind Arceus formes. Its specially defensive set with Fleur Cannon, Volt Switch, Heart Swap, and Pain Split is its best set, as it serves as a good defensive check to a large portion of the threatening special attackers in Ubers. However, Magearna suffers greatly in that it is switch-in bait for Primal Groudon, the most omnipotent Pokémon in the metagame. Since Magearna lacks Toxic in its movepool, it can allow Primal Groudon, a Pokémon on almost every Uber team, to get a chance to set-up without problem. Magearna's recovery methods are rather lackluster as it relies on Pain Split and Leftovers, making it so that it can be worn down pretty easily. Magearna is also relatively passive as it needs the full investment in special bulk to serve its purpose, making it a poor fit for offensive teams as it loses a lot of momentum.
