Magma Storm is a Fire-Type move introduced in Generation IV.A maelstrom of fire surrounds and traps the target for 4-5 turns, dealing 1/16th of their Maximum HP in damage each turn. The Pokémon trapped within Magma Storm cannot run unless it is holding a Shed Shell, is holding a Smoke Ball, or has the Run Away Ability. Regardless, it can't switch while this move is in effect.
In Generation IV, Magma Storm had an Accuracy of 70% and could last from two to five turns. Magma Storm's Base Power was 120 through Generation V, which was reduced to 100 in Generation VI with a new twist to its secondary effect: starting in the Sixth Generation Ghost-Type Pokémon are able escape from the vortex.
