Magmar (Fire-Type, and is known as the Spitfire Pokémon.) is the 126th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a
Magmar uses the Flame Body Ability. Using this Ability, opponents that use a move that requires physical contact against it have a 30% Chance of getting afflicted with a Burn, and can also speed up the hatching of Pokémon Eggs. Its Hidden Ability is Vital Spirit, which gives it an immunity to the Sleep Status Condition.
Magmar is in the Human-Like Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 6,400 Steps to hatch. It takes Magmar One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.
Magmar takes the form of a bipedal human-like monster Pokémon with a red body that has a flame-like design on it. The yellow flames extend all the way down to the tail, which has a flame on its tip.
Magmar doesn't have any differences to differentiate between male and female.
Magmar appear in the Grass sections of Mt. Ember in Pokémon Leaf Green. Magmar can be found outside Fuego Ironworks in Pokémon Platinum. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Magmar reprise their appearance at Burned Tower, but they also appear at the Safari Zone's Peak area during the Morning & Day, and at any time of day after placing 10 Peak Objects in the area.
Magmar can be found at Secret Storage 10 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
The only way to obtain a Magmar in the first set of Mystery Dungeon games is to evolve a Magby. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky Magmar appear at Steam Cave UP2F-7F and Lost Wilderness B1-B7. Magmar appear at Mystery Marsh 1F-12F in Stormy Adventure Squad and on the Path to Treasure Island B9-B15 in Light Adventure Squad. The only version of Mystery Dungeon 3 that Magmar doesn't appear in is Blazing Adventure Squad.
Magmar appear inside the Jungle Ruins in Pokémon Ranger. Magmar can be found on the Cargo Ship and at the Volcano Cave in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Magmar inhabit the Top Right Room on the first floor of Oblivia Ruins and on the Outer Left Platform section of the Oblivia Region's Sky Fortress in the Present; and in the Fire Temple mission "A Scorching Shower of Flames" in the Past by defeating it and obtaining its Slate.
Magmar can be found at Firebreathing Mountain Magma 3-3, Sunny Seashore Magma 4-3 and World Axle B1 Magma in Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Trading Card Game
Magmar is listed in the Wizards Promos set. Magmar is listed as a Common Card in the Versus, Secret Wonders, Unleashed, Call of Legends and Dragons Exalted sets; as an Uncommon Card in the Base, Fossil, Gym Heroes, Neo Genesis, Expedition, EX Team Rocket Returns, Mysterious Treasures, Supreme Victors and Triumphant sets; and as a Rare Card in the EX Ruby and Sapphire (EX Card) and EX Legend Maker sets.
Blaine would use a Magmar in both Riddle Me This and Volcanic Panic. In its first appearance it would defeat Ash's Pikachu via TKO as a result of Ash stopping the match. Magmar would partner with Brock's Onix and Ash's Charizard to stop the magma from overflowing, which would have caused an eruption. This led up to Ash's rematch on top of the volcano due to the destruction of Blaine's Gym, with Ash's Charizard winning the battle.
Gary would use a Magmar in his Johto League match against Ash in the episode The Ties That Bind. Despite having a type advantage, Magmar would be defeated by Heracross. Paul would later use a Magmar in the episodes Lost Leader Strategy!, Aiding the Enemy and A Pyramiding Rage!; it would evolve into Magmortar prior to its next appearance.
While Magmar has yet to appear in any of the films a Wild Magmar appears in the Pikachu Short "Pikachu's Summer Festival."

Magmar finds itself in the Not Fully Evolved Tier of Competitive Battling as it hasn't reached its final evolved form.
