Magmortar (ブーバーン) is the 202nd Pokémon in the Sinnoh Pokédex. It is a Fire-Type, and is known as the Blast Pokémon.

Magmortar uses the Flame Body Ability, an Ability that gives a 30% chance of afflicting an opponent that uses an attack that requires physical contact with a Burn, and Flame Body will also cut the number of steps it takes to hatch an egg in half. A second Ability is available to Magmortar from the Dream World, the Vital Spirit Ability. This Ability gives it an immunity to the Sleep Status Condition.

Magby can evolve into Magmar at level 30, and can evolve a second time into Magmortar if it is Traded while holding a Magmarizer.

Magmortar is in the Human-Like Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 6,400 Steps to hatch. It takes Magmortar One Million Experience Points to reach Level 100.

[edit] Biology

[edit] Physiology

Magmortar's red-and-yellow body resembles that of an egg, taking a shape similar to that of Dr. Eggman from the Sonic series in that regard. Its hands can disappear into its wrists, forming a pair of cannons. Flames emit from its head, shoulders and tail.

[edit] Gender Differences

Magmortar doesn't have any differences to differentiate between male and female.

[edit] Game Information

[edit] Original Games

The only way to obtain a Magmortar in Generation IV and Generation V is to evolve a Magmar.

[edit] Spin-Off Games

Magmortar can be found at Hidden Land 1F-15F & I1F-8F and Dark Crater DPB5-B14 in Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky. Magmortar is exclusive to Light Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at Weird Forest 13F-23F and Legendary Mountains on the following floors: 26-30, 32, 38, 42, 45 & 48.

A Magmortar appears inside the Volcano Cave in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia after defeating it as a Boss; its presence in your party is required to awaken Regice. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Magmortar appears at Faldera Volcano's Cliffside and the Third Floor of the Oblivia Region's Sky Fortress in the Present, and can be obtained in the Fire Temple mission "A Scorching Shower of Flames" in the Past by completing the mission with an S Rank.

[edit] Trading Card Game

Magmortar is listed in the Diamond/Pearl Promo set; as a Rare Card in the Mysterious Treasures, Secret Wonders, Supreme Victors, Unleashed, Triumphant, Call of Legends and Dragons Exalted sets; and as an Ultra Rare Card in the Mysterious Treasures (Lv. X Card) set.

[edit] Anime/Manga Information

[edit] Pokémon Information

[edit] Competitive Battling

Magmoratar finds itself in the Rarely-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling. Its high Special Attack might make one think that a Special Wall will be enough to stop it, but think again, as it's Attack is high enough to be dangerous. In addition to having common weaknesses, it's also vulnerable to entry hazards in general and its Speed leaves something to be desired.
