Mantine (マンタイン) is the 202nd Pokémon in the Johto Pokédex. It is a Water/Flying Type, and is known as the Kite Pokémon.
Mantine can use one of two Abilities: Swift Swim, which doubles its Speed while it is raining; or Water Absorb, which restores up to 25% of its Maximum HP whenever it gets hit with a Water-Type move. A third Ability is available to Mantine from the Dream World, the Water Veil Ability, which protects it from receiving a Burn.
When introduced in Generation II Mantine couldn't evolve and didn't have a pre-evolved form. Starting in Generation IV, a Mantyke can evolve into Mantine if it Levels Up while a Remoraid is in the party of six Pokémon at the time of the Level Up.
Mantine is in the Water 1 Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 6,400 Steps to hatch, A Mantine can also breed an Egg containing a Mantyke if it is holding a Wave Incense while it is breeding, an Egg that also takes approximately 6,400 Steps to hatch. It takes Mantine 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

[edit] Competitive Battling
Mantine finds itself in the Never-Utilized Tier of Competitive Battling as a result of its typing, which leaves it twice as vulnerable to Electric-Type moves. It's Special Defense is tied with Kyogre for the 8th Highest in the game, and it also has an immunity to both Spikes and Toxic Spikes, but in addition to its typing, it's HP and Defense Statistics really let it down.
