Masquerain has the Intimidate Ability. Upon entering battle, this Ability reduces the Attack Stat of its opponent by one level; this effects both of its opponents in a Double Battle. This ability won't work if the opposing Pokémon has the Hyper Cutter, White Smoke, or Clear Body Abilities. A second Ability is available to Masquerain from the Dream World, the Unnerve Ability. This Ability prevents the opposing Pokémon from ever eating its held berry.
Surskit evolve into Masquerain starting at Level 22.
Masquerain resembles a light-blue moth that has four wings.
Masquerain doesn't have any distinguishable characteristics to differentiate between male and female.
Masqureain can only be obtained by evolving a Surskit in all the Original Games that it appears in except for five: Pokémon Platinum, where it can be found on Route 229 by using Surf, along with Heart Gold and Soul Silver, where it appears in the Meadow area of the Safari Zone. Place 10 Water Objects and you'll be able to find it by using Surf.
Masquerain appears at Secret Storage 17, Endless Level 20, Forever Level 20 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.
Masquerain can only be obtained by evolving a Surskit in the first Mystery Dungeon game. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Masquerain appears at Serenity River B6 and B7. Masquerain is exclusive to Stormy Adventure Squad in Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at Jade Lake B10-B12.
Masquerain does not appear in any of the Pokémon Ranger games.
Masquerain can be found at Soothing Shore Lake 2-3 and Everspring Valley Lake 4-2 in Pokémon Rumble Blast.
Trading Card Game
Masquerain appears in five sets, the 7th Movie Halfdeck, and Pokémon Organized Play Series 1 as an Uncommon Card. It is listed as an Uncommon Card in the EX Deoxys, EX Holon Phantoms, Mysterious Treasures and Supreme Victors sets. It is listed as a Rare Card in its Trading Card Game debut, the EX Hidden Legends Set.
Audrey used a Masquerain in the film Destiny Deoxys, the lone appearance in the movies for Masquerain as of writing.
Masquerain's Manga info is unknown at this time.
Masquerain finds itself in the Never-Utilized and Rarely-Utilized Tiers of Competitive Battling. One unique niche that Masquerain has in these two Tiers is access to the combination of Quiver Dance and Baton Pass. While Quiver Dance sets up its Speed and both Special Statistics, it is able to pass those off to an Ally with Baton Pass. Additionally, it has access to Water-Type moves, including Scald and Hydro Pump.
However, Masquerain isn't very fast without boosts, and in addition to having a low Defense, its biggest bane is Stealth Rock, which removes half of its HP if it enters while this entry hazard is in play. Anything that can stop Masquerain from setting up by using Haze or Taunt will stop its attempts to set up.
