Trading Card Game
Mega Abomasnow is a part of the Borderline 2 (BL2) tier of competitive battling, meaning that it is not used enough to be a part of the Underused (UU) tier but too broken to be allowed in the Rarelyused (RU) tier. With a great offensive typing that can threaten the many bulky Water-types in the tier as well as Pokémon like Celebi and Crobat, Mega Abomasnow is a very potent offensive threat. It has a great priority attack in Ice Shard to pick off faster threats. It has some great resistances to Water, Ground, and Electric that can prove to be very handy. Its best set is a Swords Dance set that can take advantage of the many switches Mega Abomasnow can force to set up and wreak havoc with a strong STAB in Wood Hammer, priority in Ice Shard, and a coverage move in Earthquake. A mixed attacker set can punch some holes through unprepared teams due to its overall great attacking stats with strong STABs in Blizzard and Wood Hammer. Unfortunately for Mega Abomasnow, its typing, for all the great offensive coverage it offers, leaves it open to Fire, Flying, and Fighting attacks and undermines its good overall bulk. Mega Abomasnow suffers from being extremely slow which can be problematic as it is forced to tank a hit before retaliating more often than not.
