Mega Absol resides in the Underused (UU) tier of competitive battling. With phenomenal attacking stats and an offensive movepool to back it up, Mega Absol can be a strong offensive threat that at times can be very difficult to deal with. Great STAB attacks in Knock Off and Sucker Punch can give Mega Absol an edge in terms of tearing apart defensive Pokémon or picking off faster threats, while coverage options like Play Rough and Superpower can allow for Mega Absol to cover its bases very well. Access to Swords Dance can make Mega Absol even bigger of a threat by raising its Attack stat to highly threatening levels. Magic Bounce is a great ability that bounces back status moves like Thunder Wave and Will-O-Wisp as well as entry hazards like Stealth Rock and Spikes. This allows for it to act as an anti-lead against entry hazard leads like Azelf and Froslass. However, Mega Absol suffers from having paltry bulk, meaning that it cannot hold up even against some resisted attacks. It also is slow before Mega Evolving, so it can be forced into using Sucker Punch against faster threats.
