Competitive Battling

Mega Heracross resides in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling. In OU, Mega Heracross stands out as a huge wallbreaking threat with its gargantuan 185 base Attack and extremely hard hitting STAB moves in Close Combat and Pin Missile, with the latter being guaranteed to hit 5 times thanks to Skill Link. Its good overall bulk allows for it to take a hit and retaliate with a strong hitting move. Skill Link is an amazing ability that can be utilized very effectively thanks to Mega Heracross's access to many multi-hitting moves like the aforementioned Pin Missile, Rock Blast, and Bullet Seed, giving Mega Heracross numerous coverage options to play with. Thanks to its access to Swords Dance, Mega Heracross can become even more potent of a threat and destroy the majority of the tier with its boosted attacks. Its bulk is solid and and can tank some hits, and since its Attack stat is gargantuan, it can afford to invest in its HP to have a better matchup against other teams. However, Mega Heracross is x4 weak to Flying-type attacks, is noticeably slower than numerous threats after Mega Evolving, and is relatively easy to wear down with statuses and entry hazards. It also struggles with the omnipresence of common checks like Landorus-T, Tornadus-T, and Talonflame, and can be easier to revenge kill when up against offensive teams.
