Mega Lopunny (メガミミロップ), the Mega Evolution of Lopunny activated by using Mega Stone, was revealed on August 8, 2014 after a leak of the September Edition of CoroCoro, alongside Mega Altaria and Mega Salamence. Upon Mega Evolution, it gains the Fighting-type on top of Normal-type.

Mega Lopunny uses the Scrappy Ability and lets it hit Ghost-type Pokémon with Normal and Fighting-type moves.

Lopunny can Mega Evolve into Mega Lopunny if it is holding a Lopunnite.

Competitive Battling

In Generation VI, Mega Lopunny finds itself in the Overused (OU) tier of competitive battling and is a major threat in the Overused tier. Mega Lopunny has an excellent 135 base speed that lets it outspeed the majority of the unboosted metagame. It also has a nice 136 base attack and Scrappy, giving it nearly perfect coverage with High Jump Kick and Return hitting all Pokemon except for the never seen Shedinja. Mega Lopunny is capable of tearing teams apart with Power-Up Punch to boost its attack and have an easier time against defensive teams and Fake Out to get chip damage for Mega Lopunny to have an easier time taking out offensive threats. Mega Lopunny struggles with more defensive Pokemon that can handle its power like Hippowdon and Skarmory. It is relatively frail and easy to wear down with residual damage like entry hazards, Rocky Helmet damage, and potential High Jump Kick recoil.

Mega Lopunny is also a viable choice in the Uber tier of competitive battling. Thanks to a high 135 base Speed and good neutral coverage largely in part to Scrappy, Mega Lopunny is capable of revenge killing certain frailer threats such as Darkrai. With priority in Fake Out and Healing Wish, Mega Lopunny can be an effective offensive support Pokémon, with the latter move being especially valuable as it can heal up a Pokémon fully. However, Mega Lopunny does take up a Mega slot that can be dedicated to a much more potent offensive threat and is relatively weak due to its inability to hold a Life Orb.
