Moltres (ファイヤー) is the 146th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Fire/Flying-Type, and is known as the Flame Pokémon.

Moltres uses the Pressure Ability, an Ability that reduces the PP of an opponent's move by 2 instead of 1. Moltres uses Flame Body as its Hidden Ability, an Ability that has a 30% to chance inflict a burn on a Pokémon that uses move that requires physical contact against it. Flame Body also reduces egg hatching by half.

Moltres doesn't evolve and doesn't have a pre-evolved form.

Moltres is in the Undiscovered Egg Group, like most Legendary Pokémon Moltres cannot breed. It takes Moltres 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Pokémon Information

Competitive Battling

Moltres is a part of the Borderline 2 (BL2) tier of competitive battling, meaning that it is banned from the Rarelyused (RU) tier but not used enough to be a part of the Underused (UU) tier. With strong STAB attacks in Fire Blast and Hurricane and a high base 125 Special Attack, Moltres can be quite an offensive threat that when used correctly can be one of the most difficult Pokémon in the tier to deal with. Its Speed stat is decent enough to outspeed a good number of Pokémon in the tier, and its bulk and typing give it switch in opportunities. However, that typing gives Moltres a x4 weakness to Stealth Rock, which mandates entry hazard removal support, and if Moltres switches with Stealth Rock up, its longevity is shortened greatly. However, Roost does mitigate this as Moltres is not instantly doomed.
