Murkrow (ヤミカラス) is the 213th Pokémon in the Johto Pokédex. It is a Dark/Flying Type, and is known as the Darkness Pokémon.

Murkrow can have one of two Abilities: Insomnia, which prevents it from falling asleep during battle even if it uses Rest; or Super Luck, which increases the Critical Hit Ratio of its attacks. Its Hidden Ability is Prankster, which increases the Speed Priority of any of its moves that are in the Status Category by 1.

When it was first introduced in Generation II, Murkrow couldn't evolve, but starting in Generation IV, a Murkrow could evolve into a Honchkrow by using a Dusk Stone.

Murkrow is in the Flying Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 5,120 Steps to hatch. It takes Murkrow 1,059,860 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Original Games

Murkrow can be found at Night on Routes 7 and 16 in Gold, Silver and Crystal. In Fire Red, Murkrow can be found within Lost Cave.

Murkrow appears within Eterna Forest and Lost Tower at Night in Pokémon Diamond. In Heart Gold and Soul Silver, Murkrow appears on Routes 7 and 16, and at the Safari Zone's Swamp Area regardless the time of day on Land, and can also appear when Surfing by placing 10 Water Objects in the area.

Murkrow appear at Abundant Shrine in Pokémon Black. In Black 2 and White 2, a Murkrow can be found within a Hidden Grotto in Pinwheel Forest.

In Pokémon X and Y, Murkrow can be caught in the wild at Route 15 and Route 16 in Hordes. In Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, it can be found by Soaring in the sky on Mega Latias or Mega Latios.

Murkrow can be caught at Vast Poni Canyon in Pokémon Sun and Moon.

Spin-Off Games

Murkrow can be found at Phobos Jet, Endless Level 47, Forever Level 13 and Mr. Who's Den in Pokémon Trozei!.

Murkrow appears in Great Canyon 5F-7F, Western Cave 1F & 2F and Wish Cave 39F-42F in the first set of Mystery Dungeon games. In Explorers of Time, Explorers of Darkness and Explorers of Sky, Murkrow can be found at World Abyss B1-B14. Murkrow appear within all three versions of Mystery Dungeon 3, appearing at Fire Mountains, Storm Island and Light Summit 7F-13F; and Final Mountain, Final Island and Final Cave 15F-19F.

Murkrow can be found at Lila Forest in Pokémon Ranger, but the Field Move Tackle has to be used on the trees to find one. Murkrow appear in Pueltown in Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. In Pokémon Ranger: Guardian Signs, Murkrow can be found at the Entrance to the Cave in Teakwood Forest in the Present, and can be obtained in the Dark Temple Mission "Danger! Surrounded by Pokémon" in the Past by completing the Mission with an A Rank.

Murkrow can be obtained by completing a Tag Race in the Haunted Zone in PokéPark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure. In PokéPark 2: Wonders Beyond, Murkrow is found in the Tech Area's Train Depot. Battle it to befriend it, after which you'll be able to call it into battle.

Trading Card Game

Murkrow is listed as an Uncommon Card in Pokémon Organized Play Series 1. It is listed as a Common Card in the Neo Revelation, Skyridge, Mysterious Treasures, Secret Wonders, Supreme Victors, Undaunted (2) and Dragons Exalted Sets; as an Uncommon Card in the EX Sandstorm Set; and as a Rare Card in the Neo Genesis, Versus, and EX Unseen Forces Sets.

Anime

A Wild Murkrow steals four Badges that Ash had won during his travels in Johto during the episode All That Glitters, but thanks to Noctowl he would recover those badges. Paul would use his own Murkrow in the episodes Top-Down Training!, Glory Blaze, Riding the Winds of Change! and Aiding the Enemy.

Movies

Another trainer would use a Murkrow in the film The Rise of Darkrai. Wild Murkrow appear in the film Giratina and the Sky Warrior, along with the Pikachu Shorts "Pikachu and Pichu" and "Pikachu's Great Sparking Search."
