About the Game

Pokemon Pearl and Pokemon Diamond are two Nintendo DS Games, released outside of Japan in 2007. It is a role-playing games in which your main goal is to become the ultimate Pokemon Master, by defeating all 8 "Gym Leaders," as well as the "Elite 4" and current League Champion to become the new Champion.

The game is set in the fictional land of Sinnoh, a land divided by the giant Mt. Coronet, which also leads to a blizzard/snow mountain area. To fit the theme of the Pokemon series, once again you have to thwart an evil organization's plans to use Pokemon as weapons. In Pearl, this organization is Team Galactic which is run by multiple admins unlike any other Team in the Pokemon games.

The game is very similar to Pokemon Diamond.

Multiplayer

Along with wireless compatibility with friends nearby, for the first time players can battle and trade over WiFi using Friend Codes. Here, you can partake in both Single and Double battles. This also features voice chat (which can be switched off). Another feature is the Global Trade Service, where you can put a Pokemon up for trade, decide on what you want specifically in return, then come back later to receive your new Pokemon. This doesn't require Friend Codes and each trade with some registered may be found on the big globe to the left side of the GTS, this feature allows you to see what trades you have made across the world with other people.

Amount of Pokemon

With a total of 493 pokemon, it is hard not to have a blast. With the newly added GTS, each Pokemon can be obtained and traded. After a player has completed their Pokedex with the 150 Pokemon needed, they get a national dex and unleash a whole new adventure. In the new area they discover, they finds tons of new Pokemon never accessible in the Sinnoh region. New pokemon can also be added to a player's national dex with the newly added Migration feature. Trainers are allowed to "migrate" Pokemon from their Pokemon GBA games.

Gameplay

The game play is similar to the other games, on a slight top-down view, though these games are in 3D. Battles are turn-based. The top screen is used to view your character and the world around you, while the touch screen is a PokeWatch (known as the Poketch application) used to view the time, make notes, check breeding, and more! The different applications for the Poketch are added on as you unlock them throughout the game. These features are unlocked through a multitude of tasks, be it showing someone a Pokemon of a specific nature, or just talking to someone.

Compatibilities

Pokemon Pearl has full compatibility with Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon Diamond. You can also use the Pokemon that you raised in Pokemon Battle Revolution. It's also semi-compatible with FireRed, LeafGreen, Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, in the sense that you're able to transfer your Pokemon from those games to Pearl via Pal Park. Pal Park is accessible once you have obtained the National Dex.
