Pinsir (カイロス) is the 127th Pokémon in the Pokédex. It is a Bug type, and is known as the Stag Beetle Pokémon.

Pinsir has 3 available abilities, one which is exclusive to Pinsir coming from the Dream World. Those abilities are: Hyper Cutter, Mold Breaker, and Moxie. Hyper Cutter makes Pinsir immune to opponents dropping It's Attack Stat, however, It may still drop it's own Attack stat with moves like Superpower. Mold Breaker cancels any ability that would prevent the Pokémon from attacking while said Pokémon with this ability is in battle; for example Earthquake will hit a Pokémon with the Levitate ability. Finally, Moxie raises the Pokémon with this ability's Attack by one stage whenever it KO's another Pokémon (Indirect damage KOs will not receive boost, i.e. moves like Stealth Rock or Leech Seed).

Pinsir does not evolve into any other Pokémon up to Generation V. Starting in Generation VI, a Pinsir can evolve into a Mega Pinsir during battle by using a Mega Stone.

Pinsir is in the Bug Egg Group, and its Egg takes approximately 6,400 Steps to hatch. It takes Pinsir 1,250,000 Experience Points to reach Level 100.

Pokédex Entries

Gen Game Pokedex Entry
Pokémon Red If it fails to crush the victim in its pincers, it will swing it around and toss it hard.
Pokémon Blue If it fails to crush the victim in its pincers, it will swing it around and toss it hard.
Pokémon Yellow Grips its prey in its pincers and squeezes hard! It can't move if it's cold, so it lives in warm places.

II Pokémon Gold With its horns, it digs burrows to sleep in at night. In the morning, damp soil clings to its body.
II Pokémon Silver Swings its long antlers wildly to attack. During cold periods, it hides deep in forests.
II Pokémon Crystal When the temperature drops at night, it sleeps on treetops or among roots where it is well hidden.

III Pokémon Ruby Pinsir is astoundingly strong. It can grip a foe weighing twice its weight in its horns and easily lift it. This Pokémon's movements turn sluggish in cold places.
III Pokémon Sapphire Pinsir has a pair of massive horns. Protruding from the surface of these horns are thorns. These thorns are driven deeply into the foe's body when the pincer closes, making it tough for the foe to escape.
III Pokémon Emerald Their pincers are strong enough to shatter thick logs. Because they dislike cold, Pinsir burrow and sleep under the ground on chilly nights.
III Pokémon FireRed Its two long pincer horns are powerful. Once they grip an enemy, they won't release until the foe is torn.
III Pokémon LeafGreen If it fails to crush the foe in its pincers, it will swing around and toss the opponent.

[edit] Trivia

When Pokémon was originally thought of, Game Freak was going to make Pinsir evolve into Heracross. Heracross, like many other Pokémon, did not make the cut of 151. So when they were making Gold & Silver versions they were going to make Pinsir evolve until they realized they were not very alike.
